Very unhappy experience. Stayed at this hotel and will NEVER stay again! First, check in people are very unwelcoming, the room itself is smelly and unappealling and third and most important of all, the restaurant and its staff need to be shut done immediately. When a customer is sitting waiting for the waiter to even look their way is bad enough but looking up at the ceiling with cobwebs and spiders makes one feel like they need to walk out. The only enjoying part of this wonderful meal was the water with ice! This establishment should be closed by the health department. The rate for this stinky dive was too high. Please do not stay here. There are too many places by the airport that will cater to its guests. Not this one!
Ramada Portland Airport- the worst, but luxury priced. Dec. 31st 2010, My husband & I rented the Presidental suite rm # 216 at 145.00 per nite. With 2 people working the front desk, we had to wait 20mins to be helped. No elevator, or bellman so you have to carry your things up the stairs. The room had no heat on & no lite switches by the door. It was as cold in the room as it was outside. After finding some lights to turn on (not all lites in the room worked) we turned the heat on in both rooms & went down stairs to the hotel restaurant for a nice dinner. We had to seat ourselfs. Then we waited 15mins. No one came. We had to move to the bar, because there was only 1 person on duty to cook, serve, cashier, & bartend. He did a great job for 1 person. Went back to our room, to find it was still cold, due to a balcony door was open behind the closed curtains. The large screen tv had lines thru it on all chanels.The brass sink in the kitchen was so tarnished , we wouldn't use it. The coffee pot fell apart while trying to make the 1st pot (had to clean the mess) Both heaters rattled all nite long & did not heat the room very well, also made it hard to sleep. The carpet has several stains in it. My husband found a lamp that was unplugged, while trying to plug it in he found the socket had burnt up in the wall and was just left. In the morning I sat down on the couch to watch some tv. The center cushion slid up. When I went to replace it I found a dirty towel (left from the last time the room was rented) couldnt tell if it had chocolate, coffee, or blood on the towel, But that was enough for me. We packed and checked out. Because they rent there parking lot out our car was around the back, so while my husband went to get it I told the lady at the desk all of this. She said the manager would call first thing on Monday Jan 3rd 2011. Well I'm writing all this because he didn't call. Makes me think they already knew the problems with this room..................Update Jan.5th 2011.......Well everyone, I got a form letter e-mail today from Alan Chang- General Manager. He did not address a single problem with the room. He offered us 30% off our next stay there. 2 things with this. 1- why would I want to stay there again when he never said he fixed any of the promblems with the room. 2- you can find 20% off coupons all the time, so I think a 30% off coupon from him is standard for a complaint & I think my complaints should be far more then a standard complaint unless that was the standard condition of these rooms.
Went shopping to Dunedin to cute little shops like Darling Memories,Amanda Austin and Rose Garden. Everyone in these shope were nice and welcoming. I wanted to end my shopping experience with a nice cup of Java.
Whe I walked to Cappucino's Bakery...I saw a couple of customers and once person working behind the counter so I decided to sit and but my bags down. When I sat on the counter...the lady working there didn't aknowledge me but I figure she was alone so I didn't take it personally. Since I really was craving my cup of Java I decided to patiently wait. After taking the order from customers she went to the back and dissapeared for 20 minutes.
At this point I really needed to go to the bathroom. When she came of to serve the people I asked if she can buzz me to the bathroom and she ignored me. I asked again and she SHOUTED at me and I saw a mean lady looking at me. She yelled"don't you see that I'm working alone here...if you need a public bathroom there's one around the corner". I metioned to her that I was a potential customer and I have been patient by waiting 20 minutes and she didn't have to yell at me and send me to a public bathroom. I've had my bags here and that she shouldn't abuse me for no reason.
After that...she yelled at me again and told me that I should leave her shop. SHe mentioned that she was the owne and I was shocked and couldn't believe that she was being so cruel to me for no apparent reason. She basically was taking out her job or personal frustrations on me. I was really shocked and like any women with some integrity I defended my case....and tol her that she was very cruel and bitter and that this is no way to treat a customer who has been patiently waiting. She then did the ultimate...she called the cops so they can escort me for no reason. Since it was so unfair...I figured I would wait and explain my side of the story to the cops...that I was basically waiting 20 minutes for a cup of Java and to use the bathroom and this lady was just cruel with me for no apparent cause...just being abusive towards me from her personal frustrations.
I decided to leaven and not let her ruin the wonderful experience I had with other merchant owners in the area. I saw her as being cruel, catty and bitter and left without take in it personally.
I have travelle all over the world and come from a family of restaurant owners and I ive that the owner of Cappuccino's Bakery a 0 out of 10 rating for cruelty, abuse, and and hateful energy. Have a spirit lady...it's Xmas. She is a lady Scroodge.
If you are visiting Dunedin...stay away if you are happy, attractive and fairly young because this witch will hate on you and give you ill treatment. She represents the haters of the world who hate the happy, sexy, beautiful and cheerful young women. STAY AWAY from the abuse. Oh by the way I saw she did the same to a customer on a Yahoo Travel Review....this MErchant will give Dunedin a bad name.
Take it from a former insider, this place is a dump. If you stay in their "upgraded rooms" watch out for bed bugs. Mr. Chang, the owner, had some complaints when some guests got bitten, I saw some of the dead bugs myself. He bombed with cheap bombs, didnt ventilate, and rented the rooms the next day. And guess what, they didnt go away.
Their "new" bedding was bought used from a nice hotel. If you leave something behind good luck getting it back. If housekeeping dosn't steal it the front desk will. If you come durring cold weather ask for a blanket or two at check in, the heaters take several hours to warm up at all. But dont plan on getting your blankets quickly. Because the shuttle driver would rather go back to the airport, hoping to get a "real tip", than dig through that messy laundry room.
Oh, the pool was closed for weeks and uncovered. One guy jumped in and broke out in a nasty, itchy rash all over his body. That was pretty funny. Glad he didn't sue!
The park-n-fly is a great deal. The parking lot isn't fenced or really monitered. Break in's happen alot. Many many people complained about broken windows in my time there. Can u imagine coming back from your dream trip to Mexico to find your window smashed. Hope you have a good deductible on your insurance!
Lots of prostitutes seem to know how to get to the Ramada. That could be a plus, depending. They also host AFF Swinger parties 4 times a year. They get pretty crazy.
The bar tender Cindy isn't vary plaesant, ususally. I know I've caught her drunk more than once. She has been there longer than the owners. I think they are afraid to fire her and learn to make drinks.
The Changs, the family that owns that property are cheap and selfish. Customer Service isn't a priority to them at all, trust me. I've worked in resorts in the wine country, and five star establishments here in town. I've been a concierge, doorman, front desk agent, house man, room service, bell attendant, administrative assistant, driver. I know what I'm talking about. Stay away!

This particular Ramada was purchased a year ago after the previous owners almost lost the Ramada name. Since then, they have updated many of the rooms.
I went to them when I was looking at rooms for my wedding for out of town guests. Not only did James give me a tour of the hotel on short notice, but he gave us a fantastic rate as well! On top of that, I called him today to change the number of rooms we needed. He was very gracious and even extended the time our guests have to book a room in our block.
James is just one example of the excellent service provided by the staff at the Ramada. I will write more after we stay there. However, if this is how I am treated before I stay there, I can imagine how much better it will be when we check in!
The Staff Is Wonderful. I have stayed in a lot of hotels, and few have given me the service that I received here. When I asked for extra towels, I got them within minutes. Same with pillows. Had a problem with a cab, and they proactively helped. From the dining room staff to the maintenance staff, I was very impressed with the service at this hotel. Conveniently near the airport with airport shuttle service.
