Great Fish and Salads. Started with the dinner salad with Blue Cheese dressing which is the best dinner salad I have ever had in a restaurant, consistent. Main Course was Grilled Trout, Vegetable saute', and Tomato's for the side. (You can also get a baked potato or other sides, but I am on a diet). The trout was perfect and the Vegetables were my favorite vegetables at the restaurant, saute'd squash, peppers and other veggies, I highly recommend this Milwaukie restaurant…
Our Out of Town Guests Loved This Place!. Had guests from North Carolina 2 weekends ago and then guests from California 1 week ago and took them both to McGrath's. On the first visit I had the Crab Crusted Trout and it was the best fish dish I have ever eaten. Salads were wonderful but the shrimp and crab cocktails are really small, not worth the money. On the second trip, I had the Crusted Salmon Salad which was also excellent. Our out of town guests loved the place, and raved about everything except the crab and shrimp coctails. They loved the oysters on the half shell. This is a very consistent high quality restaurant for a reasonable price. We also loved the red wines, Merlo and Cab.…
Best Seafood in Portland. We have been going here for 15 years and never had a bad meal, the salads that come with the meals are the best in Portland. The have about 12 different types of fresh fish and they really know how to cook it. We like the trout, hallibut, and blackened salmon. The Catfish with spicy sauce is excellent too. Simply the best Seafood in Portland and a very good price. We see a lot of people getting meals to go too while we wait.…
Stay Clear of the Crab Louie Salad Unless You Have Had Your Stomach Stapled. We have enjoyed McGrath's for years but we were really disappointed on 5-27-08. We had crab louie salads and they really skimped on the crab. The salad was all lettuce, some diced tomatoes, 4 cucumber slides, diced bell peppers and about 1/2 cup of crab. I called the next day and was told the crab was pre-measured so all salads were uniform. They charge a nice price for this salad so I think they should increase the amount of crab they "pre-measure". Service was great as usual. If I had a business in this economy, I would have offered us a complimentary dessert or something. We are disappointed. We now call it "McShrimp!…
Average food, slightly above average pricing.
I have dined at McGrath's 4 times and only once did I enjoy myself. The food is average, the service is average and the menu prices are a bit high. I think your money would be better spent at
Newport Bay or Red Lobster.
2 times I was there they did not have ingredients to make a certain drink on the menu. What kind of place does not stock ingredients for drinks they advertise?
I also tend to be a slightly picky eater, meaning I do not want certain things in my food. For a professional waitress this should not be a problem. At McGrath's it was a problem 2 times.
Overall I was not impressed with this place and even though I live 4 blocks from there, I will make the drive to eat good seafood somewhere else.…
