In Short – Occupying the space originally designed and built for Comella's and Son Market, the pub retains small flourishes of the past. Live plants are suspended by original 1950s produce scales above lacquered pine tables. Old-time wooden signs, large booths and a laid-back atmosphere set the tone for sports fans at the bar and conversation everywhere else. A noisy, open kitchen churns out food that reaches far beyond the average pub grub fare.
Unfriendly and uninviting.

Went there for my first time. Patrons were much friendlier than the cold, uninviting bartender. Beer was okay. Definitely not the inviting public house atmosphere falsely advertised. If you want friendly interaction with fellow human beings, don't expect it from the bar staff. Though some of their only bar customers of the night, it was made clear that we were not encouraged to stay. Portland can do better, and this place will not be graced by our business again.
- Pros: We know who not to give business to now.
- Cons: I've had friendlier service at he DMV
Decent food, setting. Sub par service

Went here for the third time, which in all fairness is when people should be writing reviews. Service has always been kind of slow and inattentive. I was seated outside on a rare sunny April day and we had to wave down a server after sitting for ten minutes. Food is pretty good however, contrary to what I've read. Calzones are awesome, burgers are pretty good too.
- Pros: Good food, setting
- Cons: Service
Love this place

I love this pub. It has great home made beers as well as great drinks. The food is not great so don't go hungry. It is more of a spot to have a drink at.
The Details on Old Market Pub & Brewery
Where to Sit:
During summer months, the patio draws the after-work crowd and soccer-mom set.
On the Menu:
Appetizers are decadent, delicious and huge--the fried ravioli and primavera garlic puffs are hefty enough for a meal in themselves.
The Extras:
Twenty taps at the bar make for some serious suds tasting. Twelve taps are dedicated to the pub's own creative varieties, brewed on the premises. Can't decide between the Hot Tamale (made with fresh chiles), the Gravelberry or Hop On? The taster tray allows sipping of several for commitment-phobes.
