Tips for Yens Chinese Restaurant

We just finished dinner at Yen's and were impressed. The service, while a bit rushed and impersonal, was very efficient. We really enjoyed the food. All the dishes (beef broccoli, walnut shrimp, coconut chicken) were very tasty and the portions were ridiculously large. Maybe if you are a food snob you won't like this place. We like just plain yummy food, and we found it at Yen's.

Best chinesse food you have to remember. I live in hawaii i always came to oregon for vacation with my parents they took me here when i was little. I love the manager Hes the man full of the creations he can make delicious foods from scratch. There chicken fried rice is amazing , i always go there for the chicken fried rice!! and dinner specialties are good, the prices are not high but just right and the portions are big too (:. the noodles, and everything else is flavorful and zesty.

Comfy Chinese Food. People have to realize that ther are all types of Chinese types of food; just like every culture. Yen's has that good egg fu yong, won ton soup and lunch specials that we remember as kids; the orange sauce on the sweet/sour chicken, fried prawns with red sauce and hint of hot mustard, and brown fried rice. There are other Chinese styles I love too of hot and spicy, organic, etc., but sometimes I just crave the american-style of Chinese food, which Yen's is perfect for. I've been going for years and every time I dine there with "anyone" they always bring me something extra from the owner, since I am a regular customer. I like the family feel and the customer service. When people say they are rude, sometimes other cultures just have to be tolerated as different. They are always friendly, but be patient in that some don't speak English very well.

Terrible customer service. We placed an order over the phone last night at 3:00. I have never heard such rudeness over the phone in all my life. She acted like she was doing us a favor by just answering the phone. We have been going to this restaurant for years and could not believe the treatment we received with this individual. We spoke with her when we got to the restaurant and she just blew us off. We are sending a letter to the owner, if it will do any good, we will see.

Good for the Money. Yan's is one of my favorite places to eat. It's extremely reasonable cost-wise and the food is good. It is basically American-Chinese food with no real speciality dishes, but the orange chicken is really good and the fried shrimp (which used to be rather greasy) is now crispy and delicious. If you grew up on chow mein and egg foo young like I did, you'll love this place. I usually take half home and get two meals out of an $8 dinner. They do a big to go business and it can be quite crowded some evenings.

NON-AUTHENTIC EATERY. This place has good food, great prices, and big portions, but don't expect to eat a traditional Chinese dish. Also, the quality of the food could use some improvement and this would cost a little more money wise, but would bring in more customers. Make some effort to show your individuality as a Chinese restaurant, rather than existing in the mundane niche of so-called Chinese restaurants.

Almost Chinese. This is not, what I call "Chinese Food", in the traditional sense. Items tastes good, and have a Chinese name. My problem here, is the fried shrimp. They are greasy, dry and overcooked.

This restaurant does the same as too many do, and that is, they don't cook in hot enough oil, and they keep their oil too long. There motto should be,

"Save Money & Loose Customers". I'm not pointing my finger at just this restaurant. My feelings apply to all, who deep fat fry anything.
