The exterior looks like a bar which it is but enter and it is totally different than expected. The Bar is in back and that is where the host can be found just go back and she will greet you and seat you anywhere in the Restaurant or bar that ever you prefer.
There is never any waiting and the fish is juicy with a batter that is thin, crispy, and sticks to the fish!
Their "House" Tarter Sauce and Cloe Slaw can't be passed up with is meal so remember to order it separately.

I've been to the bar portion of Gaffer's more recently, and really enjoyed it. The drinks are the cheapest I've ever seen, and their food is pretty good. Best place to go on this stretch of 99W,
and open the latest (that serves alcohol, anyway). It's a nice place to go and spend a few late-night hours with friends, since the crowds aren't rowdy and the music isn't too loud.
The restaurant side is good too, for the times you want a daytime dining experience.…
Good food but where's my slaw?. I went to Gaffers last night for the first time. It was pretty empty (only one other table) at 6:30 so that's not a good sign, but the server was a very nice young lady who sat us and brought us our drinks pretty quickly. The clam chowder I got was so-so. I actually liked the fish, even though it was just cod. They could use some better fries for the "chips"- the ones they had were just the boring regular fries, not even krinkle cut or anything. But I didn't get any cole slaw with it! Doesn't fish & chips pretty much always come with a little side of cole slaw? Perhaps I expect too much. All in all it was a decent dinner for cheap so whatever- I will be back. But next time I am going to demand my slaw!…
Very Good Carry Fish & Chips. The PDXPhatFoodCritic back at cha with the takeout review from F&C joint near Tigard... My wife needed a quick meal one night and ran out to Gaffers. I was impressed with their home-made slaw which is essential with any fish and chips meal. It was crunchy, fresh, well seasoned and creamy delicous. Hate to say it but KFC has one of the best slaws out there and this is on par or better. The fish was tasty, flaky, and perfectly cooked COD. The portions were huge and the chips were really tasty. The only thing lacking was the batter. While it appears to be a traditional English style batter it was almost a little to light. I prefer a really crunch batter and their was a seasoned well but just a little on the light side. Overall I would give them kudos since it takes about 10 minutes to get from their from my house so I am sure with an in person visit the taste would be even better! I highly recommend Gaffers for some quick pub style grub! ... Update my wife visited Gaffers in person yesterday and said the Fried zuccini was super fresh and had a great batter... So I guess I will be visiting gaffers again soon for more great pub fare.…
