Raccoon Lodge & Brew Pub

So so food with really bad service.. They lost four customers for life from us! I had gone a few times to Raccoon Lodge before, but only for beer. Last night we decided to try out the Happy Hour. When we sat down we asked our waiter Ben C. about the cost of subbing garden burgers for the regular burgers, as two us have dietary restrictions. I was told no charge (same thing I was told the day before when I called) so we ordered. Food was nothing special. Service was semi lacking. But the real kicker was when the bill came we were charged WAY more for our "special" burger, despite the fact that I had previously asked about if there would be a charge, and I even said if there was a charge I would order something else when I ordered!

I then brought it to our servers attention and basically was told 'tough luck'. I then mentioned I had inquired if there would be this charge when we sat down and wanted to know if he would remove it. The short answer was a very cold "nope". All four of us were very surprised by the poor service and the lack of friendliness.

I thought maybe he was just having an off night, so I called the next day and spoke with the manager Lisa K. I told her what happened, semi expecting her to apologize and to say something along the lines of "Come in and I will give you a partial refund." or "I am so sorry you had a lousy experience, I hope you give us another try." Instead I got a "I'll let Ben know someone complained." Nothing more.

There is a lot of good food and great service in Portland. I have been to many MANY restaurants whos waiters and managers stand behind what they say and want to give a good experience to their customers. Raccoon Lodge on Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy. is defiantly NOT worth a visit.

Good Experience. We went with some trepidation after reading the other reviews, but we had a very pleasant experience. Granted, the place was practically empty when we were there, so maybe that had something to do with the great service. The food was very good and was generously portioned. The only downside I could see was that things were very overpriced. For example, on the appetizer menu, $12.95 for nachos. I felt that the experience was comparable to eating at a McMineman's, but spendier. I don't think we'll go back, but only because we can have the same experience for cheaper elsewhere. Good experience and service. I hate to do a review based on one visit, but that appears to be what several negative ones were. I went the other night for the first time in a year or so. The service was excellent, accommodating our custom requests.

Great location, decor and beer BUT.....BAD SERVICE!. Why do we keep giving this place another chance? Last visit we had to walk out after waiting in vain for service. Visit before that the kids melted down when dinner order was "lost" by staff. I had to get up and ask twice before anyone realized.

The menu always looks good with creative specials too.

This place should be a gold mine with lines every night, but they now use cheaper food ingredients and have high staff turnover. Service is consistently inconsistent and usually poor. They are not prepared on busy nights. Exterior seating is nice but expect a huge wait for food or beverage.  View Less … View More
