Portland >Skyline Restaurant
once a good place, now the worst place in town. People used to drive from the beach to eat at Skyline, but it has went down hill, the food is awful, the service is so bad, they can never get the order correct, even when you send it back, they get it wrong the second time, way to expensive, they only take cash, the place is filthy, it is very sad, the end of a Portland Land mark
Like Stepping Back in Time. My husband and I enjoy all the food here, but especially the downhome burgers. Let's face it - we're both products of the 60's. We walk into the Skyline, and it feels like we are returning to our youth. NOTHING HAS CHANGED! They aren't mimicing the past with brand new furnishings either - they've got to be the original. In this economy, the bottom line is DO YOU GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH? The answer is YES!
Classic!. I go to Skyline once a week with a childhood friend. I look forward to it every week. The service is great, friendly... its classic Americana. The burgers are fantastic! The fresh potato chips are my favorite. Ive read some negative reviews and I will very strongly disagree. the one guy talks about Carl Jrs. being the best burger.... please.... This is a true old grill burger with fresh toppings and a great bun. Milkshakes are money! Fine if you dont want to go... it wont be as crouded when I show up every week
good burgers, healthiest and most delicious fries. The food at Skyline makes it my favorite burger/fries joint. Their cheeseburgers are not too greasy and their milkshakes are to die for. I definitely recommending at least trying it once, if you don't like it then move on, but if you do, then you have found yourself a great burger restaurant! I often get take-outs, especially since you can call ahead to order your food. So you don't have to wait when picking it up!
Wanted to like it - left food uneaten on table. My family has driven by Skyline many times and it looked good from the outside. One day we stopped and tried it. We wanted it to be good, but it just wasn't. Slow service that brought out only part of our order. My wife couldn't finish her burger, it tasted that bad. We were seated next to the kitchen and heard the cook complaining about folks sending back orders not once but twice. We will not be back and we will tell our friends to pass it by.
i'm craving it right now.... i really like skyline and will go there again and again. i took some out of town relatives there and they really enjoyed it. the burgers are good and the shakes are even better!!!
Not worth the drive....
I assume the history of this place is why people keep coming. It did absolutely nothing for me. I came here after going to the zoo. Figured I'd see what all the hype was about.
It wasn't bad by any means. But I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here...
I feel the same about the Helvetia Burger... Nothing special!
Carl's six dollar burger is the best deal for the buck. They are located on most street corners...
Yeah.. don't bother. This was possibly the worst burger I've ever had. The patty was thin, the fries and onion rings were greasy. Basically the hike up the mountain in the fog was not worth the food we got. The price was cheap and the shakes were ok, but the burger sucked and wasn't worth the drive.
LIVING IN THE PAST. If you like overcooked, greasy burgers with no taste beyond the grease then this is the place for you. Ironically the other menu items fare better than the burgers, but to rate this the best burger against Heathman, Castagna and many others is simply ludicrous. Even Helvetia Tavern, which has slipped in recent years, offers better burgers and better fries. Sorry but don't believe the hype on this one.
The BEST Burger in the Pacific Northwest. This place is just the best! The burgers are huge and cooked perfectly with all the works. The fries are perfectly cooked and their milkshakes are thick and creamy. Great atmosphere and awesome service! This is one of our favorite Saturday lunch spots.
