Worth a visit...
It's too bad that a couple of people have had negative experiences because we've been many times in the past 7-8 years and its always been a positive one. The food it great - we tend to stick to the traditional items - such as tacos pequeño - so the price can't be beat either. The staff has always been friendly as well.
I thing the couple of negative postings are really the exception.
Great Experience!. After reading the other reviews, we ate here thinking that the service and food were going to be terrible. My fiance and I went there around 6 pm, ordered two combination plates and the server told me that mine would take 30 minutes. I was fine with that and we seated ourselves at the bar . Despite having to order at the counter, they brought us out our food and then the server added our food to our bar tab so we wouldn't have to check out twice...The service was really great as was the food. It started to pick up around 6:30 with families, couples, and friends. I would definitely go back for the 3-6:00 happy hour. I just wanted to add my review because we almost gave up on this place based on what other people said. We were both glad we went.
Great Drinks. I think Aztec Willie's has great drinks and I think the bartender was extremely knowledgable regarding good drinks to try!
Never Again!. Despite this restaurant's incredibly overpriced menu, I used to frequent it before seeing movies at Lloyd Cinemas. However, after my last experience, I will never go there again. The service was reprehensible--when I asked for a meatless entree, I was given chicken, and then when I tried to return it, I was treated rudely, and NOT given any kind of replacement or refund! $9.00 down the drain! I even tried to speak with a manager, but I was rudely informed that he was not available (and was not for days afterward when I tried calling). I don't usually go to such lengths to remedy such insignificant problems, but I truly think that bad service is becoming an epidemic in this city. I refuse to support restaurants that cannot treat their patrons with common decency and respect. To think, I had even left a tip on my debit card!
Very glad we went!.
We had planned on going to a different restaurant, but changed our minds at the last minute. I'm very glad we did. My husband ordered a Super Burrito, and I had the Enchilada/Taco Combo and a beer, and we split a side order of Spicy Tiger Shrimp. I had the Brazilian Beef in mine, and he had the Carne Asada. Both were extremely flavorful and tender.
I commented at the restaurant how I enjoyed watching the preparation. The bar service was extremely quick and friendly, as was the food service.
We will definitely go back again.
Good location gone to waste....
In spite of the great location, this restaurant just doesnt cut it.
Bland, mediocre food, terrible service---we tried to get a drink at the bar one afternoon, and were ignored, in spite of a nearly empty bar. Apparently the bartender was too busy talking to the three regulars at the bar to be bothered.
Portland offers some great Mexican restaurants, but this isnt one of them. Go elsewhere...maybe a decent restaurant will eventually fill this prime location on NE Broadway.
Not very appetizing. The preparation of the food, right in front of you, was not a very appetizing sight. Slop it on the plate and call it good. The price of a veggie burrito was 5.95, but that didn't include the veggies - only beans and rice - the veggies were extra.
