Some things about this place drive me nuts!.
I have had the exact problems as jmildred. I, too, work nights and sleep during the day. My annual inspection (which I find RIDICULOUS) day, I had to sleep in my car. I've come home other times to find that they've been in my apartment and left a note with the bit of hair they found in all my drains on top of it, saying it could be part of grounds for eviction and that they were "worried about me". I've had the landlord's husband walking around outside my window while I'm sleeping, and he's called in the window saying hello to me. I've gotten comments on whether I'm sitting in my car or not and when I come and go, and I've been told that I can't have any one over more than 12 times in a calendar year and that if I want to have people over, I need to add them to the lease.
Landlord aside, there are other issues here, too. The neighborhood's not the safest. I've had people looking in my windows during the day, banging on the windows screaming in Spanish at night. I've had people try my door handle in the late evening. I've had a guy sitting under the stairwell hiding from the cops, and a teenager sleeping out on the staircase. The management pushes that it's a gated community, but anyone can walk through the gate, just not drive through. The path to the laundry room is poorly lit and incredibly creepy after dark. My rent has gone up significantly every year... 375 in 2006, now 555 for the same 348 square feet... Maintenance requests are sometimes addressed quickly, other time completely ignored until the next annual inspection rolls around (which is really every 10-12 months) Parking is limited near certain apartment areas. Aurghh... There's so much more I could say!!
Best in Town!!!.
I've been living there for about 4 years. Highly recommended to anyone that wants to save money and live in a safe and quiet environment. The managment staff are friendly and willing to help with any repair needs.
Give then a call and ask for Ron, Cindy, or Jim and they'll glad to show you around. If you are not here in Keystone East, then you are missing out!!!
not the best, but could be much worse...
I have lived here for a couple years, and have a cat that lives me too. Last year I was having trouble with the toilet overflowing, so I asked them to look at it while I was going to be out of town. I got back to a note that accused me of flushing cat litter down the toilet. I have had cats my whole life, and I am not a moron, I think I know not to do that. Needless to say, they did not fix the toilet. ..
I work third shift, so I sleep during the day, and the manager knows this. Last year on the day they said they were going to do the yearly inspection (which is an invasion of privacy in itself) I stayed up all day waiting for them, and they never came. This caused me to have to go to work that night with almost no sleep, then they showed up some other day, unannounced. ..
This year, I went to bed at my normal time to avoid the same thing happening. And when they came, knowing that I would be sleeping, they pounded on the door, opened it, and yelled at me to wake up. I was so infuriated that I ignored them until they finally went away. ..
I always feel like they are watching me too, since I get comments on whether I'm driving my car or riding the bus, and when I come and go. ..
If you work during the day and don't have a cat, you would probably be ok here. The other employees are very friendly. And the neighbors are friendly, or just leave you alone.
