Comfortable family restaurant serves up grilled steaks, seafood and a mammoth salad bar..
In Short
Established in California in 1958, this all-American chain is decked out with stone accents, dark woods, and classic photography that hearkens back to the restaurant's beginnings. The original menu featured four steak options; today, guests choose from steaks, burgers and sandwiches, St. Louis-style pork ribs, and signature "sizzlin' platters" of garlic-herb chicken or grilled seafood. The famous salad bar offers more than 90 items, including desserts and hot appetizers.

The end of a great restaurant?.
The fact that there's only one of these left in Portland worries me. Each time my wife and I go here, we feel like royalty. The food is teriffic, the service is also, and we can always get a semi-private seat, even when it's crowded, which, thankfully, isn't often. The clam chowder is better than most actual seafood joints, and their plain 'ol burgers are fantastic if you're on a budget. My only complaint is if you want the salad bar alone, it's a little expensive, but if you order it with an entree it's cheap. Also super clean, and your bottomless drinks are refilled instantly. When we're on 82nd, we stop here a lot.
