Portland >Campbells Bbq
HORRIBLE AND FLAVORLESS this place the
the worst BBQ place ever!!!!!!!! we passed it and and to turn around and i wish i didn't... were to start the the meat have a overdone and over smoked flavor to the ribs and chicken, the sauce sucked, the ranch was frozen when i got it, and the mac-n-cheese was discussing i couldn't tell if i was eating an omelet or mac-n-cheese was that noodles or eggs? ether way it tasted like a wet napkin with a crusty chunk of cheese on it if u want something with flavor you would have better luck licking the floor, it was the worst food ever!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s stay way from the red beans and rice it was bad and cooking cornbread that bad in the south is the reason you end up owning a southern restaurant in northern Oregon.
WE WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN !!!!!!!
I would have never written this but my stomach still hurts and its been like 2 hours.
Food: Excellent Quality Home cooking,
Surprisingly tasty BBQ Chicken(Not Dry), Pork Spareribs and Briskets were fantastic. Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans were out of this world. Cornbread was homemade-Good.
Service: 10 Waitress was very attentive.
Price: 10. Sampler for two, 24.95 was good food & left over for two to take home.
Atmosphere: 10 Very Clean & beautiful wooden tables & clean decor all over.
Definitely recommend the experience.
Beautiful & Clean place.
As soon as I walked in, I saw the Huge Longhorn hanging on the wall. Then the Aroma of the smoke says it all....The atmosphere was wonderful, and the variety selection of meats and sides were overwhelming. The waitress suggested "Sampler" plate and it was enough for two people. Bargain at $22.95. Brisket was fantastic, like the way I used to eat at Texas...in Texas the Brisket is the King. Even had the pink ring the way it ought to, otherwise it would not have passed the test. Meat was moist and tender, Pork rib, Turkey, Beef Rib was nice and thick.
Coleslaw was ok, Baked beans were vegetarian but very good. I gave 4 stars because I didn't like the Coleslaw with pineapple but my hubby liked it so whatever. I would definitely recommend to my family when they visit Portland.
Read a lot of good things....
But, the barbecue was not very good at all.
I'm stunned Campbells has snagged all these glowing over the top reviews... I'm becoming a believer in the multi-verse theory.
I'm not going to counter the over-the-top positive reviews point by point.
The entire dining experience ranged from bad to unacceptable.
There are several good enough barbecue places in this area.
I don't see any reason to return to Campbells.
HEARD OF LOT OF GOOD THINGS!.
Heard a lot of good things about this restaurant.
Place looks beautiful, best BBQ place I've ever seen.
Food was all deliciously prepared with sauces on the side.
Better than expected. Sampler dish was de-lish! enough food for two. Reasonable price with lots of meat and sides and the cornbread. mmmm...homemade cornbread . Definitely going to be one of my favorite.!
We had wedding catered by these folks, it was everything I had hoped for. The food was great, staff was professional and the whole evening was very memorable. I would recommend them for their food and great service to anyone. Organic Buffalo, Portobello mushroom was unique but excellent taste. My favorite was their Beef Brisket which was out of this world!
No Good BBQ. This was just lousy. Ordered the family 3 deal. Mac n cheese was mac with unmelted bits oif yellow and white cheese. Chicken was almost like jerky. So very dry. As was the sliced meats. And the BBQ sauce, dumped it! The cornbread was adequate. And my dog had a feast. I strongly recommend asking for a taste sample before purchasing 42 bucks worth of doggie bag. Red beans n rice was foul. This crap is so far removed from good southern anything! White folks were there and an asian fellow cooking. And the ditzy waitress COULD NOT tell me what type of "greens" they had. Didn't even attempt to find out for me. Don't bother with Campbells!
I Miss the Good Old Days. I'm a white dude, ok? Understand that the original Campbells was an offshoot of Flint's BBQ in Oakland, which is legendary and a place I have frequented many times. When I rolled back into PDX and saw the upscale look to Campbells, I knew a buyout had taken place. It looked really, really white which I was not used to since Campbell's fed me for so long and I was used to a certain feel. I ordered the links....my fave and a Flint's/Campbells tradition....almost patentable. I got what amounts to a hot dog. Are you kidding me? Campbells links were legendary. What in the hell happened? 1 star.
Good Food and Low Price. I Ordered the Beef Ribs and Pork Ribs for a combo..the Ribs were HUGE enough for two people to share...sorry but it's all mine! Never had such a large Ribs with thick meat.! Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans, Coleslaw...Freshly Homemade, not fatty or mushy. Cornbread was fresh too. Lower than expected price tag, it was a good deal for a home cookin food, and the girls were very nice...defnitely recommend this place for a good value and service in this tough economic times.
Aroma of Smoke tells the story as you walk into the place, nicely decorated with Steer Horns and other Antlers, Had some doubt but when I received the Biggie Family Meal, everyone was surprised by the large portion and all the meats were flavorful and not dry. Especially the Pork Ribs and Beef Briskets were excellent. Macaroni & Cheese were layered in two cheese, the best I've had in Portland, although my favorite would be with the Jalepeno peppers.
But all in all, all the food was excellent for the party of 5, and had some leftovers for one large family combo for around $60 including the drinks and the Cobblers.
