Bad Food, Pretty Good Ice Cream
by kangle
Four of us ate at Lew's in early 2008 and everyone agreed that the food was awful. I had the kabob that they were heavily advertizing and it was really dry and flavorless. Other members of the group had various other burgers and fries. All were extremely greasy. On the positive side, the ice cream was fairly good. My recomendation is to avoid the food at all costs and maybe swing by for an occassional milk shake.
- Pros: Ice Cream
- Cons: Everything else
Try Their Cruise Burger!
by Times5forever
I have live down the street from Lews my whole life. I have not had it in about 2 years to be honest. However, tonight I ate dinner with my parents (who are huge Lews fans) We all three got three Large Cruise burgers and three fries and when I bit into that juicy, beefey, homemade burger my mouth started watering! I missed Lews so much! It made me think, how could I go sooo long with out this amazing food? Now remember, not everyones tastes buds are the same, but if you like a good old fashion cheese burger that tastes amazing hey give it a shot, right? Whats it going to hurt? Don't let these reviews stop you from trying it. As most people, they'll try anything once and so should you!
P.S. Try their Malt Shakes!!!!!!
- Pros: Their food:)
- Cons: Only one location!
Underwhelming Coney and Corn Dog
by captainvscrew
Coneys are one of my favorite things ever, and in the past I've been given the nickname "corndog." Suffice to say I've had plenty of both. I'm eating a Lew's coney right now, and can say with authority that this coney is not good. I was excited because the coney I was given was a footlong, and looked pleasantly trashy in the bag. However, the dog itself has a rubbery, fake texture and the taste isn't very good. The coney sauce is too tomato-ey and looks like it has barely any beef. If I didn't know better, I'd guess this thing is an attempt at a vegan version of a coney, given how fake and untasty this is. But it's not, it's supposed to be a real coney.
Can't say much for the corn dog either. It was, at very least, freshly deep fried. But it was apparently a foster farms pre-frozen corndog, (probably delivered by the foodservice usa truck that pulled out while I was in the parking lot.) Frozen corndogs are for 7-11. Any self-respecting joint wouldn't go that sad route.
Next time I'll stick with Roakes or Mikes. Lew's Dari-Freeze is out.
