Average BBQ – I have had a lot of BBQ, including BBQ in Texas and North Carolina. I would rate this BBQ passable or average but not great. Still searching for great BBQ in Portland Area.

Bad food, service and the bathroom smells like something dead!!! – Good evening,

I made the mistake of trying this place with my family. No one was impressed with the restaurant in general. The biggest problem was the service. After we found a table and started to eat, we needed a child's seat. The people waiting for their food kept all the staff busy. So, I had to hold my son on my lap while eating my dinner. The last straw came when another customer decided to smoke. We tried to alert someone, but again no help to be found. We left before we finished our dinner. NEVER TO RETURN. Buster boy must be too busy or too stupid to see what is going on there. Too bad for Gladstone........Try the Oregon City Grill. Very good BBQ and lots of friendly service. Also, there is another new place supposed to open is the Woodsmoke Steak House in Oregon City. Good luck.

Buster's, not what it used to be. – I've been eating at Buster's since 1987 when their only restaurant was in Gladstone. It used to be so good that a friend of mine would eat the barbecue sauce (at that time they only had one flavor) with a spoon. The baked beans were spicy and delicious, the meats tender and moist. Sadly, they seem to have lost their way. When they opened in Vancouver the food was so dried out it was often almost inedible. The beans are now bland and inconsistent, often the salad has that brown look on the lettuce from I presume sitting out too long or just no longer being fresh. In Vancouver I presume they thought they chose a bad location to account for the lack of customers, but I think it was the quality of the food. Since Vancouver closed Salem now is the destination of choice if you're looking for jerky. A few of the employees are friendly and know me by name, but many, even after seeing me year after year, look at me as if it's the first time they've seen me in their lives and don't care anyway. So, I may be done as a loyal customer. Dang it, it's nearby and efficient. You can go in for lunch, get your food, sit down, and be out in half an hour. But it's no longer worth it.

Portland ain't Chicago, Kansas City, or Memphis – After living in Chicago for three years and taking trips to Kansas City and Memphis just for the BBQ Buster's does not realy stand a chance. HOWEVER, for Portland it is O.K. I reccomend calling ahead and picking it up, ambience is kinda hoopy. Do not get food in off-peak hours. It sits there and dries out, in particular, the chicken. The sides come right out of the can. Brisket and Baby back are the best. Another added bonus about bring it home is you can use you own BBQ sauce, becasue what they have is pretty weak.

Which TX are they talking about? – Because where I come from (Houston, TX) this place doesn't stand a chance. The sauce was awful and the cut of meat (brisket) was lacking. Buster's is overpriced junk. Will not go there again. Where is the real BBQ?

its alright – The times where I've had them the food to me seemed too dry. We had them cater a Christmas dinner at a function we attended and things were alright that time but the times we've been in the restaurant the food seemed too dry for me.

Not at all like TX Q! – Being a recent Texas transplant, a friend insisted on taking me here. Very disappointing! The brisket I was served was very fatty, and the sauces left a lot to be desired. Quite honestly, I think this is among some of the worst I've had.

Buster's, not true Texas Style – As a Texan, I know good Barebeque. While busters is not bad, there is far more to barbecue than putting a rub on everything and smoking it. True texas babecue uses tomato based sauses on mostly beef dishes. These sauces usually invovle som spicy bite. This is somethign sorely missing from Busters. I was greatly disappointed in it, and have only returned once because I did have tiem to smoke my own, but did make my own sauce to coat it with.

Busters' – Busters has consistently good Q. Northwesterners don't know what real Q is, like the kind you get from the little shack alongside the road in Tennessee, or in Mississippi, so Busters has to cater to Northwesterners tastes. And they do a darn fine job. The quality is good, and it's consistently good. If Busters tried to serve up Q like it really is in the south they'd go out of business. If you want good food, and a reasonable price (for Portland) try Busters. Good sauces too although again, tuned for the Northwest palate.
