Very happy with overall experience

by tamiwhite

We went here for a friends birthday dinner. There was no waiting for our seats for an hour over our reservation time like we usually have to do for our birthday dinners at other local establishments. We were seated right away. Our waitress picked up on the names of people at our table. Our beverage glasses never went empty, food was on time and PERFECT!!! We had a party of 16 people. The bonus... they didn't FORCE a 15% gratuity on us... because I wasn't forced to tip I tipped very generously...Plus our server was the best I've had in a long time.... I highly recommend

Plus they made a special menu with the daily specials and put our friends name on the banner of it!!!

  • Pros: Great family atmosphere, affordable dinning, great food

Great experience for a birthday celebration

by hawkinslyc

This was a great experience for celebrating my sister's birthday, her name was on the big chalk board when we came through the door, we had reserved the "charity table" and what a great time, she was seated in a special chair indicating she was the birthday girl, the manager came over and greeted us and they gave her a cute ceramic flip flop sandle with a candle in it as a gift as we were leaving. Food was good, hot and tasty. We passed on dessert. I would highly recommend this place and will go back, especially for special occasions.

Best Happy Hour!!! GREAT FOOD... BETTER SERVICE!

by TAMSNO

My boyfriend and I went there, he had loved it in the past, and my visit was the first time! The happy hour menu is smaller, but the food for the value tastes awesome! My boyfriend just loves his chicken wings and for a few bucks you get a small order of wings, that he absolutely loved! He ordered a few of them that night!

I just got a quesadilla, which although was a little dry in some spots, had great flavor! We always had water, and the bartender was great! They had a cobbler desert that tasted terrific a la mode... the ice cream and special apple mixture was a melt in your mouth treat. Some reviews on here seem a little bad, but like they went when it was busy and expected immediate service. HA! Good luck finding that ANYWHERE! But Beaches has great servers and fantastic food, and as you've heard, a WONDERFUL VIEW.

  • Pros: Everything is awesome.
  • Cons: Didn't find anything wrong.

GO!!!

by kandm

Beaches absoulutely wowed my husband and I. These people are the true experts on customer service. We made a reservation and the manager who handled the call recommended the Charity table. They actually hold the best table in the house for kids in need. So of course we took it and when we arrived we were seated immediately buy a very friendly, pretty hostess. Once we were seated our server came over very quickly and introduced himself and asked our names. He talked us into the Nori Tuna. It came out in a flash. I forgot to mention the perfect drink I had, it was some kind of succulent strawberry Martini. The Martini was chilled to perfection and went down way too smooth. Oh my God, I haven't even mentioned the perfect view! The owner even stopped by. I can't say enough about this place, but I'm out of room! JUST GO PEOPLE!

DON'T GO TO BEACHES RESTAURANT!!!

by NatKh

Review for dinner on 07/06/08. Four out of six water glasses had something floating - disgusting! Drink order was forgotten for 2 people. When forgotten drinks finally came they were wrong drinks. Waiter forgot to take order from 2 people and almost left. Waiter also asked if mashed potatoes would be ok as a side for a pasta dish - ??? Appetizers were delivered, but had to wait for waiter to come by to ask for silverware as table was not set up at all. My knife was completely dirty. Cesar salads were awful - greens not fresh and completely withered and croutons were soggy. One meal had hair in jo jo's. Side of ranch was ordered which came quite quickly, but then another waiter came halfway into the meal with another ranch. Drink refills were forgotten. Steak was ordered medium-well, but was over-cooked to a charcoal state. Hamburger was ordered without onion - showed up with onion. Not one assigned waiter to our table - a few different waiters tried to help but nobody knew what they were doing. Waiter with drinks kept walking around from table to table asking if they were the people that ordered certain drinks. Food was delivered to the wrong tables. Staff is very disorganized and nobody seems to know what they are doing. Three out of the six of us got sick from this dinner. people who got sick all ate Cesar salads and some type of seafood. The other 3 people didn't get sick, but they didn't eat any salads or seafood. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK - DON'T GO TO BEACHES!!! THIS RESTAURANT NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED FOR FOOD QUALITY, FOOD EXPIRATION DATES, AND OVERALL CLEANLINESS.

Average average average

by notyetfamousartist

The food is okaaaay. The service is a bit slow, it's always crowded, always waiting for a seat. not a lot of variety in the menu, and high prices. portions are not abundant, i'm a small person with a small appetite and I've had meals that left me hungry here. Nice view and nice staff, but just average food and too high prices for what it is.

  • Pros: Nice view, nice staff.
  • Cons: average food, prices too high, always a wait, crowded lobby means no seating while you wait.

If you're from out of town; easy to find Surf and Turf right on the water

by tekshow

Beaches is beautiful, with epic views of the water from any table in the restaurant. Once the food arrives you may or may not be singing a different tune. Standard fare rounds out the menu in triumphant mediocrity. You may never know it if you're from out of town. It's much like an upscaled Red Robin, with seafood in place of the burgers and a lot less flare. The catfish served over a bed of mashed garlic potatoes was not a dinner I would complain about or one I write off as spectacular. My wife was pleasantly happy with the Seared Ahi Tuna, which was crusted the way Ahi is supposed to be, but delivered as an entire slab of uncut fish. Again, the gripes are minuscule, but overall they paint a picture of average quality. Perhaps they just do to much of everything; Pizza, Fish, Steak, Pasta, BBQ, Pan-Asian, and even a small Hawaiian offering create one melting pawt(Citysearch won't let me spell it correctly for fear of telling you about a certain herb) of a menu. All done with the same standard decency as the next; but c'mon, Udon noodles and miso? It's a little overkill, on the same page you can spot Oahu pulled pork rest "Thai inspired" dishes and fish and chips. If they had a focus they might find their niche, it might as well be seafood since they're right on the water. Then again, they might lose a little of the charm, I guess the idea is that no matter your craving you can get something decent to satisfy it. There's a bevy of hotels nearby and I imagine Beaches caters to their needs. It's a great location and it offers more variety than the adjacent McMenamins. Service was great, food was prompt, we didn't have any mistakes in our meals. That's just it, there's nothing bad you can say about Beaches, but on the same coin there's nothing I can stamp out as a reason to go back. Even this writeup has become mediocre: Good for tourists. ;)

  • Pros: The view of the water
  • Cons: Similar to price and quality of Red Robin or Olive Garden (not a plus in my book.)

Best bar in town. Great food, drinks and view.

by doctbone

Yes, Beaches is noisy. Yes, Beaches is crowded. Yes, Beaches has a beautiful view. It is what it is. They do an outstanding job of taking care of the crowd with excellent service, great food and drinks. If there is ever a problem with the food or drink just let them know and they will take care of it. I have gone to beaches for two years and have had only one time there was a problem and it was immediately taken care of with no questions asked and they were happy to take care of it. I highly recommend Beaches. Its the best place in town for a fun time out.

Let Down by Our Experience

by kitrimae

I went to Beaches with a few friends last week, looking for a relaxed evening with good drinks and good food. We were incredibly disappointed at Beaches. We'd heard good things, but after waiting for 40 minutes for an inside seat on a weekday night, then waiting another 30 minutes to get a drink order taken, then waiting another hour for our food to come, having them mess up our orders, and redeliver the same messed up orders a half hour later, we were ready to throw in the towel. When we finally got our food, it was disappointing, too. I paid way too much for a grisly piece of chicken with anemic vegetables, and my date was served a sad looking limp salad. The entire atmosphere was chaotic and we left feeling stressed and still hungry. Beaches might be a good place to go for a lively after-work round of drinks, but it definitely is not a good place to go for a relaxed fine dining experience.

  • Pros: The beachfront location can't be beat.
  • Cons: Everything else can.

A Dessert You'll Always Remember!

by candicex3

Beaches has something for everyone! Great food with plenty of choices, good drinks, a beautiful view of the Columbia River and Interstate Bridge, a fun atmosphere, (we love the clever autograph books), and exceptional service. BUT the one thing no one has mentioned in the other reviews is the

to-die-for Almond Roca Dessert!! Oh my gosh, this wonderful delicacy is almost difficult to put into words. They start with a crisp (bowl shaped) toffee/almond shell, two scoops of delicious vanilla/toffee ice cream, a generous squirt of chocolate, and a delectable ginger laced stick cookie. Add a cup of their great coffee, and you'll be wishing you had skipped dinner so you could have eaten two of these!! In reality, it's probably best to share this dessert, unless of course you didn't eat dinner. We have never been too full to pass on this memorable dessert. One bite, and you'll be hooked!

  • Pros: Numerous menu choices, tasty N.W. food, exceptional service
  • Cons: This seems to be everyone's favorite place to eat, so expect a wait Friday thru Sunday
