Great, cheap theater pub.
by ginaleesmith
The Laurelhurst Theater and Pub plays all the same films you'll find throughout other discount movie houses in Portland, but the beer selection is better and cheaper than the overhyped "McM's littered throughout the city. The staff is super friendly (mainly the male servers, the girls need to work on their skills a bit), the food is great and cheap. I would suggest showing early, the films tend to sell out quite often. THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!
greasy food beer good

Other than it smelled a little moldy in there I had a great time last night with a bunch of my friends. Staff was unfriendly though. But I love a place you can drink and watch a movie. Better than home because I don't have to clean up the mess. Prices were a bit high, but cheaper than a big commercial theatre. I had one of my dogs in a bag with me and they never said a word.
- Pros: Good bear
- Cons: NO parking
The best theater EVER (he says, snapping gum and using valley girl accent).

Oh, the Laurelhurst. My absolute favorite theater. The beer on tap, available by the glass or pitcher, and rotating per seasonals, are worth the three dollar admission. Add to that affordable wines by the bottle (er, carafe), and pizza, and we've started off on the right foot. We try to make it a weekly visit. The staff (with a one-time exception) are super-nice, and did I mention they show movies? In addition to showing your hits and misses after they leave the multiplex, Laurelhurst wants you to remember some past faves with a weekly featured flick. They used to serve Pizzicato pizza, but recently moved to serving their own pie made at their side-project cafe. Honestly, I liked Pizzicato's pizza better, but if they can shape up their new crusts, they might be on to something; I'm holding hope that they are still in trial and error mode over there. This is a highly recommended establishment--they do it right. As I've often said, I'll see just about anything if it's playing at the Laurelhurst.
- Pros: EVERYTHING.
- Cons: NOTHING! (just work on that new pizza crust)....
too good

The Laurelhurst Theater will spoil you. After going here a few times, you will not want to spend tons of money at a big first-run theater.
At Laurelhurst, you don't have to sit through tons of ads, still or moving. They just have a nice slideshow of interesting photographs if anything.
It's only a few dollars to get in.
The pizza is awesome, and you can drink great beer and some pretty good wines. And the prices on food are like they should be, not like nine dollars for a soda and popcorn.
- Pros: price, pizza, wine, beer, movies
- Cons: not a lot of seating -- a long line on friday and saturday nights
The Best Theater!

I never write reviews but I have to say how much I love this theater. I have been coming here for years and have always had great service. Great movie choices. The pizza is so good and I love having a beer and watching a movie with my friends. I always bring out of towners here for a good time and it represents Portland's unique style.
- Pros: great place, lots of parking, and cheap!
- Cons: ladies room needs a ladies touch
Bogie and Bacall meet Fred and Ethel Mertz at this beautifully renovated theater-pub.

In Short
The Laurelhurst Theatre originally opened its doors in 1923, and it has seen many incarnations since. With luck, this latest one will have staying power. Recently renovated, the theater features four screens showing a combination of second-run films and lesser-seen art flicks. With all-new seating and tables installed between seats, locals will hardly be able to detect signs of the grungy theater of days gone by.
GREAT DRINKS, GREAT MOVIES!

I took my girlfriend here on a date because I found that they have the best movie selection compared to the other theater-pubs in the Portland area. We saw City of Gods, which was an excellent choice. The beer prices were good and movie prices were unbeatable! They also offer Pizzicato by the slice for anyone who wants a bite to eat before or during the movie. This is definitely among the short list of my favorite places.
- Pros: Good movie selection, Cheap movie prices, Cheap beer prices
Best Reason to Live in Portland
by Joon
There are pros and cons for every city. The biggest con for Portland is the constant rain. The Laurelhurst is the way to stay dry and smile while doing it. Great, cheap movies accompanied by amazing Oregon beer. These theaters (led by this one) really define who Portland is. I have gone back several times and agree with other reviewers - no kids screaming, friendly people and low-budget flicks - Laurelhurst has it all!!!
Best in town
