Fun and Hip.

Ive been travelling to 23rd for fun for a long time. Because of the great area I drive 45 minutes to get my hair done in the area, window shop, browse for books, eat delicious foods, and meet funky people, all in a very nice area. Cant get better than NW 23rd!
- Pros: Food, Ziva Salon, Pavda salon, Pro Photo, lots of fabulous little stores
- Cons: Parking. But just plan on walking a couple blocks and its no biggie
A destination for well-heeled shoppers, bar hoppers and diners, this street has earned its nickname: Trendy-third.

In Short
Well-dressed latte-sipping couples mix with groups of attractive singles. People-watching on this street is prime--grab a seat at one of the numerous coffee shops. At night, the street is alive with folks heading for the many bars and restaurants nearby. Since the streets here are in alphabetical order (Burnside, Couch, Davis, Everett), it's easy to find your way around. You'll find larger chain stores closer to Burnside and more eclectic wares down the alphabet.
FUN ZONE!

I had such a great time on a recent visit to Portland. I had not visited NW 23rd before, and what a treat. I shopped, dined, and even got the best haircut I ever had! This place is fun, and I will come back for more!
- Pros: Stores, Dosha, JoBar
- Cons: Parking, Wish it was in Corval

SWEET SPOT

I love this neighborhood. My favorite places are all in one 6 block stroll. The finest clothing...Lena, Mimi and Lena, Elizabeth Street...yum. The best shoes...Zeldas, Ether (cheap and trendy, but fun). Dosha for the best in pampering and hairstylists in town. Reynolds for coool eyewear. Urbino and Urban Outfitters...Restoration and PB for homestuff. And the restaurants!!!!! Too many great places to name. Jo Bar...Papa Haydn....Roses....Esc from NY well the list just goes on! This is THE place to go for all your wants... if not your needs.
- Pros: Stores of High Class, Yummy Food Everywhere
- Cons: Parking

East Coast Charm in PDX
by vanessac
Amazingly, Portland has the coolest shopping ave on the West Coast. SF, Seattle and Lala land have nothing on 23rd. Sweet shops, little attitude, good food from $2 up. Very low homeless or panhandle factor and overall very clean and tidy. There is a couple of chain stores (gap, pottery barn), but they've been religated to the end of the street.
A must for every visitor and more

My girlfriend and I have a ton of friends and family that visit us, and one of the favorite afternoon of everyone is 23rd. Without hitting the coast or St Helens, a fun, relaxed stroll through 23rd and the cool shops there do the trick.
Givs you a flavor or what Portland would love to be seen as - hip, diverse (kinda), and unique. Shops for everyone - from coffee lover, chocolate shops, clothes, shoes, body/face make up & such, to a great record shops and the Monkey shops.
Just a fun afternoon and a favorite for us even when no one is visiting.
- Pros: a little of everythin, g, snacks
- Cons: parking, no great dining
