This is a really nice park, lots of trails for walking/running etc. Great Views also! Keep in mind though, there are two big picnic areas, but no barbecue facilities available.
- Cons: No Barbecue Facilities!!!
This extinct volcanic cinder cone offers something for the athlete as well as the romantic.

In Short
This park is actually an extinct volcanic cinder cone--a small mountain in the city. Miles of trails and roadways wind through trees and around reservoirs, and most lead to the top--a trip rewarded by views of downtown from one side, Mount Hood from the other. There are tennis courts on the west and northeast sides of Tabor and basketball courts on top. With its barbecue facilities and shady areas, Mount Tabor also makes a great picnic location.

SAVE OUR RESERVOIRS!
by mrbond
The city of Portland has planned a $100+ million project to replace the open reservoirs at Mount Tabor Park with buried underground water storage. The scenic views and deep, reflecting water could be permanently destroyed. Now a public advisory committee is deciding "what goes on top." The city plans a permanent 7% water rate increase to pay for it. It's not too late to stop them. Join the Friends of the Reservoirs! Visit our website http://www.friendsofreservoirs.org to learn how you can get involved.
- Pros: Scenic views, Natural area, Historic open water
- Cons: Doomed reservoirs, Poor city maintenance, Poor handicap access
