How does Multnomah Falls get "rated?" Of course it's going to be crowded...it's a National Landmark! You people are crazy. I couldn't care less about the crowds, I'm there to see the falls.
- Cons: None...beautiful!
Multnomah Falls not just about the falls

Living most of my life in the Portland area, I have been to Multnomah Falls many time. I am still amazed as the massive water. But there's a lot of exploring to do behind the falls. After you've hiked to the bridge, keep going. There are miles of hiking trails, all beautiful and away from the crowds. The views from the trail are fabulous, looking out on the Columbia River Gorge. Also don't miss the falls in the winter. The spray forms ice all around the falls making it a true winter wonderland. You can pick up a map at the gift shop.
- Pros: beautiful natural setting, parking, hiking
- Cons: weekends are busy
gorgeous but waayyyyyy tooo crowded

This is one of the most beautiful places in the world -but its really not easy to experience the full effect when there are swarms of people everywhere- locals, busloads of tourists, and a suprising amount of employees standing around talking to each other or smoking cigarettes. I think you have to stop there at least once, but really the other falls on the historic highway are just as pretty and far less crowded. Dont forget to go all the way to Bonneville Dam and the Fish Hatchery before you haed back in to Portland though. The Hatchery in particular is really suprisingly beautiful, and theres lots more room to have a picnic and relax, even on the busiest days.
- Pros: gorgeous. Really- if you can see around the swarms of people.
- Cons: crowded. Really crowded.
You just have to

Multnomah Falls is just one of those things that you HAVE to do if your in the Portland area. I was so excited to go cause I had never been before. So we hiked up there (actually only like 5 min) but when we got there it was like, oh theres a water fall......ok lets go back down now. I actually had more fun in the gift shop :)
- Pros: It really is pretty
- Cons: It's just a waterfall

The Multnomah Falls are so beautifu. I especially enjoyed walking on the bridge over the falls because you can hear the falls roar below you. The trails are pretty good..and the view is priceless. Definately worth the trip!!

Multnomah Falls

I was an accidental tourist. Made a wrong turn looking for gas off the beaten path. I alternated between cussing myself due to the needle on my gas gage pointing to EMPTY and breathlessly exclaming what a gorgeous camping area "I had discovered". I kept reassuring myself that the promised gas station would surely appear as I continued to drive up, up and up! "Wow, I'll just have to come back this way when I have a full tank of gas. So much like Devil's Lake in Wisconsin!" "Oh no! Almost really sitting on EMPTY!" Now down, down and down. There's the gas sign once again. Do I believe them this time or should I try for the freeway. Well worth the missed turns and anxiety over the empty gas tank! This was in the fall of 2004. I've "accidently" found myself there twice more.
- Pros: Breathtaking veiws.
- Cons: Parking
This stunning waterfall hosts hikers who marvel at this example of the Columbia Gorge's natural beauty.

In Short
This 620-foot cascade of water stands as the second highest year-round waterfall in the country. It's created by natural springs and melting snows from Larch Mountain. The water flow changes seasonally, from the roaring cascade of spring to an icy trickle midwinter. Stand at the bottom of the falls to feel the misty splendor or hike the paved trail to Benson Bridge for a close-up view.
Good place for Brunch

This is a lovely place to have brunch at. Although it was raining the day that I went so I didn't do any hiking, the view of the falls from the dining room was breathtaking and the food was a good compliment.
- Pros: friendly staff, great view
It made my heart skip a beat

My Husband and I took a cross country road trip this summer for our anniversary and one of the stops we made was to Multnomah Falls. Words cannot describe the beauty. My Husband hiked all the way to the top and said it was nice but that the view wasn't any better from up there (I wimped out half way up!) We are from Chicago and were pleasantly surprised by all the beautiful waterfalls in the area but Multnomah was truely the most awesome!
- Pros: Beautiful Scenery, free, easily accessable
- Cons: Crowded
BEAUTIFUL

What else can be said about the tourist attraction? It is a great place to connect with nature and see a magnificent waterfall from different perspectives. There are multiple hiking trails ranging from .5 mile to almost 7 miles! Be prepared with food and water if you plan on going the long trip. Wear durable hiking shoes and take into account the elevation change as you get to the top of the falls.
- Pros: Free, Natural wonder, People watching
- Cons: , Parking
