Raw oyster deal. I recently bought 3 doz raw oysters there for grilling and about 1/3 of them turned out bad. They cost $6.99/doz Everything else in this store cost more than other asian shops, you should shop carefully.  View Less View More

Great store - so what's up with the deli?. Uwajimaya as a store really is an amazing place. The selection is second to none, and there's the sushi retaurant Hakatamon (much, much better than the previous place Sambi, thank goodness) and the Japanese bookstore. I work near Uwajimaya and walk over often.

So what's up with the deli? They slop out possibly the worst Asian steam-tray dishes I have ever seen. I have made several attempts and I'm giving up. Everything's cooked into a beige mush, floating in oil. The chow mien I just got was greasy beyond belief. In an attempt to get something that was once alive I ordered the vegetables. Even they were a lost cause - they appeared to have been cooked at least a day before: the broccoli was literally shriveled and discolored.

I can strongly recommend Uwajimaya as a store for all things Asian (and Pacific Island) but for the love of all that's tasty they need to scrap the deli and start over. Even Safeway can do better!  View Less

GREAT PLACE FOR ASIAN FOOD!. This store carries most of the Asian foods for Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese people. The produce and seafood is high quality and the rest of the products are good also. The prices are a bit spendy, but it's definitely worth it for higher quality products. The lines go very quickly and the workers are very helpful.  View Less View More

Try the restaurant - Sanbi. I have to drive an hour from Salem to get the selection they have. Tried the restaurant and was pleased with the food and prices. Tried the striped bass sushi for the first time and it was delicious once you get past the slightly tough skin. Two people and a beer for $15; nice dinner.  View Less View More

A fun find. Discovered Uwajimaya two years ago and have loved it ever since. Prices are a little high (though nothing compared to Japan). Book store is a wonderful find (especially for manga nuts). Highly recommend it.  View Less View More

It's like a Japanese "Costco!". From fresh sushi to imported stationary, movies, and books, Uwajimaya has the best selection of any Japanese- import store I've ever shopped at in my life! Some of the items are a little pricy (a *lot* pricy if you visit the bookstore), but the service and atmosphere are great. If you're into Japanese culture or food, this is definetely where you want to be.  View Less View More
