this place is a nuisance to my neighborhood
by VeggieGirl98 at Citysearch
There are numerous fights and screaming/yelling drunk fools out in the wee hours of the night. I have seen various people coming and going out of the back door... this place gives me the creeps. Inside it's dark and seedy - which is good on some occasions - but I think this place has outworn its welcome. I have seen so many fights out of my apartment windows, I have seen so many drunk drivers pulling out of the parking lot - last night I saw many police cars, a fire truck, and an ambulance pulling someone away on a stretcher. I'll say it again, this place is a nuisance to my neighborhood. I don't suggest going there unless you want to get into some kind of trouble.
Sticky & Unpleasant
by CriticUltimo at Citysearch
Broken seats, slap-dash service, and an atmosphere that reminds one of the date-rape basement of a frat house does not put the Gypsy in high regard for this critic. The once pleasantly seed Gypsy Joker biker bar circa 1978, has become a ghost of its former glory. Gone is any flavor of authenticity. Replaced by sloppiness and yuppies playing pool. I don't mind gentrification when it lead to quality, but the Gypsy's transformation had led nowhere.
- Pros: Convenient
- Cons: Too many to name.
Staff is great, clientele are wastes of space
by critic777 at Citysearch
Had such a unique experience with three men outside at closing time. I was waiting for a ride and had a conversation with one in particular who was hell bent on finding out my opinion regarding who was "my type" between the three of them. Once I made it clear that none of the douches were my type, I had the pleasure to hear the profound opinion of the biggest piece of ****. Apparently was a **** tease and my ***** was "smelly". I walked away quickly feeling sufficiently threatened not to mention completely disgusted for the mere fact these morons exist. Beware of these *****. They prove date **** is alive and kicking.
- Pros: staff
- Cons: customers
nice place to drown in a fish bowl
by blondQT247 at Citysearch
Two fights in one night...cheesy decor. Frat crowd, went across the street to Muu-Muu's, had a much better time.
toilet mint
by bigliver at Citysearch
If the smell of this place doesnt make you want to leave the service and the people that drink there will. Filled with novice drinking jocks and it smells like a toilet mint.
- Pros: none
- Cons: takes up too much space on 21st street

Normal bar, nothing special
by samsigphi at Citysearch
Typical bar. Not trendy, not a dive. Just a good place to go for some drinks with friends. The drinks are reasonable, and service is pretty good. I've found that the service on the south side, is much better than the service on the north side. Not sure why that would be, but it's always been the case.
Awesome Happy Hour, Food and Drink
by portlandbarhopper at Citysearch
Great place to start off your night of bar hopping. Great staff: frinedly, helpful with drink ideas or thoughts, not too pushy or bothersome while enjoys time with your friends. Awesome happy hour menu and a drink list that never ends. Lots of off the wall drink combos that sound odd but are actually really good. Food is great and never takes long to be served. Not too expensive either. Low key enough to talk or with friends.
- Pros: Decore, Happy Hour Food and Drink, Service
- Cons: Parking, but hey, it's Portland!
Another good happy hour place with outdoor seating!
by himbeer at Citysearch
The happy hour menu just can't be beat. You can get fries with ranch AND a cheese quesadilla for two bucks each. It ends at 6:30 but our waitress put the order in for us even though we came right at 6:30. She was a super star, attentive and joked with us a bit. The food was excellent and on friday's the music is just 90's top hits and whatnot. Much better than the hip hop filled saturdays (unless that's your thing). Gotta love the fishbowl party drinks as well! I giant AMF with plastic monkeys and mermaids decorating the blue drink was just fabulous! (they are a bit spendy but that doesn't take away from the fun of sippin on one with your buds and super long straws)
- Pros: great service, excellent happy hour!, outdoor seating
- Cons: NONE!
Fun food and drink
by katkin at Citysearch
Odd drink special turned out to be something fairly yummy, and worth a try. Good mac and cheese, although a bit stringy. I'd stay on the bar side rather than the restaurant side if given the choice. Our waitress was super nice and just attentive enough not to be annoying. Definately worth a try on 21st.
- Pros: Great service, specials
- Cons: Empty on a Saturday night
