Lousy food

We went to Sungari Restaurant for dinner on Christmas day. This was our first time here. We had reservations for two at 6pm. I was looking forward to my favorite dish, Moo Shu. But when I went to place my order, they told me they were all out of their pancakes and thus were not serving Moo Shu. How do you run out of Moo Shoo pancakes?? We ordered an appetizer of Minced Chicken in Lettuce Wrap. I'm not sure why they call it a wrap because it was basically a small bowl lined with a piece of lettuce and then filled with minced chicken. It was unappetizing to look at and tasteless to eat. Then we ordered the sizzling rice soup, one of our favorites when we go out for Chinese. It, too, was bland and boring. Last we got the Beef with Broccoli. I had two bites of the beef and couldn't eat anymore. The textures was strangely gelatinous. It was totally disgusting. I ate some of the broccoli but the whole dish was just not very good. Again, the flavors were totally boring and one dimensional. We reluctantly paid our check and left. It was such a disappointing experience, especially when the purpose was to treat ourselves to a special dinner out on Christmas night. Needless to say, we won't be going back.
- Pros: We were seated promptly and always had a full glass of water
- Cons: The food
Poor service plus overpriced

I am shocked by the high ratings for this restaurant! We had reservations, but had to wait a long time to be seated from a disappearing hostess. Although our order was taken promptly, it was over an hour before our first course appeared- an oversalted tofu and spinach soup followed by another 45 minute wait for the main course. The other dishes were greasy and not special. I wouldn't recommend it for romance as it was hard to have a conversation because of all the noise carried from the tables crammed near us. Our waiter made himself so scarce that it was hard to get tea or even get the bill. We were very disappointed and will not return.
- Pros: decor
- Cons: expensive, tables too close, poor service
Horrible service!!

My family and I I went to have dinner and waited a half hour for a table. The service from Francis the Manager was horrible. He was rude and treated my family like crap. That would be the last time my family and I set foot into that restaurant.
- Cons: Rude, Bad Service, Food was cold

Sungari a five star Chinese restaraunt? you have got to be kidding. All the 10 ratings are from themselves! Overpriced WAAAYYY overpriced food with no appeal. Don't waste your hard earned money on food that can be optained at half the price. Good luck, you will be dissappointed.

Only one way to describe this:
Total Rip-Off! $12 drinks that didn't even measure a full shot? Food was great (by the way), but I was not prepared to pay $38+ per person for a meal I could have had most places for $24. There's no food worth the bitter taste this left in my mouth. We were the only ones in the restaurant, so it's no wonder they tried to milk us for all they had. Too bad, because if they lowered their prices and got a clue, this place could really be something special.
- Pros: good food, servers tried, good tea
- Cons: PRICE, expensive, drinks
Fresh Off The Boat? NOT!

Authentic 5 star Chinese cuisine? Give me a break, maybe 5 stars in a shopping mall food stand. The food at Sungari is expensive, unoriginal, and portioned like French cuisine. Giant plates with a bit of food to color the middle of it. Save some time and money and dine elsewhere folks. If your looking for Sungari style of Chinese the "sample" yelling guy at Pioneer place food court can provide that at 1/8th the price. What a sham.
Chop Suey FOOEY!

Remember the cheap take out chinese for $4 to $5 dollars? Sungari's serves the same thing for 3 times the price. Way overpriced chop suey. Sungari's menu prices are justified by their monthly rent which is higher then their food standards. Service was down right horrible. If you like Panda Express, save yourself some money and eat there because Sungari's is the same thing.
overpriced chung king

Sungari's upscale atmosphere is no excuse for the poor food and service. I remember better tasting chinese food from the canned "chung king" grocery food. What a attitude we recieved from the staff. I guess we did not meet their required "look" for thier establishment. We decided on this place based on web reviews but I guess the people that rated this place so highly never has had good Chinese food. What a disgrace to Chinese cooking. Don't waste your money on high priced very mediocre food.
- Cons: over priced, unfriendly, bad food
Nose in the air!

What pompous attitudes we discovered at Sungari's. The food is WAY overpriced and is very average compared to other chinese downtown. We felt rushed to finish by the wait staff. Nice decor may be attractive but attitude and average food makes sungari another joe blow wanna be chinese restaraunt. The manager needs a attitude adjustment. Nothing special at Sungari.
- Pros: Nice decor
- Cons: Overpriced, Poor customer service, Manager is stuffy
