Warning for those with a conscience
by can you believe
It is inconceivable to me that Aequis is up for a Best of City nomination! The owner doesn't pay her employees! All of the therapists that others have raved about in past reviews are gone due to the run around on pay. They are even owed their tip money that satisfied clients put on credit card. Some past employees are still owed for over 10 weeks! Times are hard, but the owner has found the time to jet off to California & Thailand as she makes one excuse after the other for not having any funds to pay her workers. Check out their prices, & tell me one more time where the cash flow problem is, & then do the right thing, & find another spa to support.
- Pros: had great massage therapists
- Cons: employees not being paid
Instant Transformation
by tommymc59
If you're looking for the total spa experience, there is no spa in Portland that matches Aequis. The minute you walk in, you're taken to a far away tranquil environment that instantly relaxes you. Lighting, decor, staff training, facility, and treatment all work together to reinforce this atmosphere. Superb.
I have treatment scheduled next week -this will my first visit since they moved to their new location in the Pearl . Cannot wait.
- Pros: Atmosphere, treatment, energy
- Cons: parking
I'm not going to try THAT hard to give you my business!
by sherigo
Despite the recent reviews I attempted to make an appt. for a treatment. I never got a call back. I don't care how exclusive you are, it is simply bad business not to return phone calls. I refuse to make attempt after attempt to make an appt. There are plenty of other spas in the area that I'm sure will actually pick up when I call and schedule an appt.
- Pros: ????
- Cons: No respect for prospective clients

Gift Certificates Worked Out
by Jhops
The girls had the place to themselves and were treated above and beyond what was promised. They did a great job and although they were very difficult to get a hold of, and scheduling was difficult - not sure what happened but once contact was made things fell into place and the princesses were granted their every wish.
- Pros: The girls were pampered like princesses
- Cons: Difficult to get a hold of....
Happy to see some good posts for a change!

Glad to see that people are still getting good massages.
I've just kinda been watching

This fascinates me.
Does anyone really believe that ex-employees just hang out on their former employer's citysearch reviews all day?
Further, IF they are ex-employees, do they not see they have far better avenues than this to resolve their issues (assuming this isn't just a defamation play)?
Or maybe they don't even want resolution? (which would be reallllllly pathetic.)
I've been to Aequis a few times. Most times it was excellent. One time they really bungled up my session. It happens. You know what? Megan took full responsibility for the situation (though it wasn't really her doing... it was one of her staff... maybe you?) , and rectified it to my satisfaction.
This leads me to believe from experience that she is one who will take responsibility for her actions, and that your accusations may have ulterior motive. Rather than pursue an ineffective (at best) campaign on citysearch, why don't you pick up the phone, call Megan at Aequis and work to a resolution (here's the number: 503-223-7847). As others have reported, you might get an answering machine. So... give up? Hell no, show some courage and leave a voice mail. Then you two can talk and reach a resolution, UNLESS, of course, this whole citysearch campaign is nothing more than an inability on your part to accept responsibility for YOUR actions (you know, the ones that probably got you fired... you did say ex-employee, correct?)
Defamatory fake "reviews" that don't help people decide whether Aequis is right for them are NOT the solution.
Heck, I'm not even with Aequis, and your drama has gotten under my skin, enough to prompt me to post. I can only imagine what your former friends still working at Aequis think of you for trying to put them out of a job. Take some responsibility for once, drop the hide-n-seek libel, and IF there truly is an issue, get it resolved. You know, like a civil human.
- Pros: Good place.
World Class
by BarinaM
My husband and I had what I would classify as world class massages there. It was a little tricky getting an appointment, but we're originally from NY, so we're pretty used to the good places being hard to get into. Bottom line for us: it was worth it.
- Pros: Quality. Professional. Relaxed.
- Cons: Parking enforcement in the area are diligent.
Please keep going to Aequis so I can get the back pay owed
by GSmith9495
It's interesting reading the recent good reviews for Aequis, or that Aequis is even still in business since many, many of it's accounts are in arrears. I have a confirmation from a claims handler at the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industry that there are SEVERAL claims against Aequis and it's owner Megan Klein Fitzgerald. Apparently Megan refuses to respond to any of these claims from the poor employees who were duped into working for her, only to never receive the payment they deserve. Apparently now the state will have to serve her with legal papers and start a more aggressive process to get the delinquent Megan to actually pay her employees. It's so sad and pathetic that Megan and Aequis claim to be all new agey and peace to the world, but in actuality Megan is completely shady and underhanded. I wonder if BeckyJoe who also owned her own small business and thinks we're being mean and petty, actually paid her employees. Or, if BeckyJoe weren't paid by a client, would she go after that person for payment? Does that then make her mean and petty like she thinks we are? Or does she think, as Megan does, that it's perfectly ok not to pay employees?
At any rate, if you want to believe these recent positive reviews, then by all means please do. That way Megan still has a business, and income that the state can track down so her employees can actually get paid the money Megan rightfully owes them.
- Pros: I need the money owed to me by Aequis
- Cons: Aequis doesn't pay it's employees
Fantastic Experience Today
by jojoluvs2eat
Let me say this, I did have some trouble getting the appointment scheduled similar to some of the reviews below. I did, however, get that worked out with a personal call from the owner, Megan. Today was the day that my boyfriend and I visited the spa and had a really great experience. From the beginning of our appointment where we worked out our aromatherapy to the time we left, we were made to feel extremely special and were well taken care of.
For those of you that take reviews seriously, it is pretty apparent from the content/timing of the bad reviews that they don't seem legit. I would highly recommend giving Aequis a try for yourself. The folks that were working there did a great job and we will be back.
- Pros: therapists, experience, location
- Cons: tough to get the appointment
