We found hair in our food & their attitude was terrible
by menten
My husband found this hair and lost his appetite. He politely went to the guy working the front, and told him. the guy replied, "So?" My husband then said he'd like his money back. the guy said "over a HAIR???" My husband, in shock, asked the guy "what would YOU do if you were me? would you eat this with hair in it?" The guy replied "Yes" that he would.
What happened to customer service? what happened to apologizing? the guy reluctantly gave my husband his money back, but they've lost a customer, and that place was a favorite. Their food is good, yes,but you don't treat customers like that.

Excellent bento, salads, curry, and specials!
by jewella
The best bento around. Everything tastes fresh and made-to-order. The salads are big and tasty and anything off the grill is excellent. Make sure to try the curry! The atmosphere (an old craftsman style house with a huge sprawling outdoor patio with lots of seating) is comfortable and welcoming.

Great Healthy Bento
by mc250
I've eaten at the Red Fig many times over the years and I keep going back. I love the option of having brown rice, which I always order and it's cooked perfectly, as is the chicken on the bentos. The flavors are always great, not too strong nor too weak and I love their wasabi salad dressing.
- Pros: Great Bento, Friendly Staff, Outdoor seating on sunny days
- Cons: Can be a little expensive for lunch
Inventive bento
by xantippe
The Red Fig's menu is creative and diverse--this is the only place I can think of where you can easily satisfy a Japanese food craving and a Thai food craving and a healthy food craving with a single entree. I had all three cravings, and the Red Fig's Thai Peanut Chicken Curry bento plate solved my problem. The brown rice it came with was probably the best I've ever had, the curry was spicy and tasty, and the chicken was pretty much fat free, as well as moist and delicious. And the salad came with wasabi dressing--neato! There were many similar items on the menu, as well as more meaty dishes, such as the delicious blue cheese burger my husband ordered. And the service was fast and friendly. PS--there's air conditioning, so plan to eat at the Red Fig the next hot summer day.
- Pros: great food, great service, good value
Super cheap awesome bento
by hatetocook
Every time I go to Red fig I am pleasantly surprised. The food is always better than what is expected in comparison to other bento places (the teriyaki sirloin bento is SUPER tender), all of it is very fresh, and a great value for what you get. I espscially recommend it in summer, as there is ample patio seating, and your dog can sit outside with you.
- Pros: Great bento, cheap price
- Cons: Inside seating is not as nice as outside
Great food and service

A great place to get healthy food that tastes great. The service is top notch too. It's fast, friendly and they seem to really care about their customers. I love their chicken salad.
- Pros: Healthy, Inexpensive, Great service
Great Bento
by woodbaer
Bento! Made when you order??? That's right. Tender chicken, perfect veggies, and rice I can only dream of making. Healthy too??? What's the catch? None, except you have to go to the Red Fig and enjoy. They have a great deck too. Forgo the snobby Packing Crates of the world and go face to bowl with a great lunch or dinner. My favorite is the Chicken Panang with it's snappy peanut sauce for about $6.25. The people watching is also a great desert.
- Pros: Great simple food, Healthy & Tastey, Inexpensive
The Fig's the thing
by briske
The Red Fig is a funky young restaraunt with a passion for bento. This usually inexpensive way to dine often fails, do to dry stringy meats and overly sweet sauces. Not at the Fig. The meats, including the chicken breasts, are fork tender. Each meal comes with a choice of white or brown rice and about the best Terriyaki sauce around. Not cloying sweet, this is a well balanced blend of salty soy, ginger, garlic, and just enough sweet to make a balanced flavor. The pot stickers are another treat. A perfect light side filled with ground chicken, these delicious little bites come with a choice of dipping sauce. Request extra peanut sauce. This delicious lightly spicey sauce was used as prime bartering at our table. The youthful owners, keep an intergrity to the food and dining experience. Perfect for a cheap but delicious eats.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Beer and Wine, Outside seating
- Cons: No wait service, can be crowded, John Denver music
