My last visit to this restaurant
by baja60 at Citysearch
03/31/08 We've been here befoe and were happy with our food. But on this date, the New York steaks had so much gristle, they couldn't be chewed. Caesar Salads were all white, tasteless lettuce, with very liitle dressing.. Even the baked potatoes had been around the block. Our group of four all had the same opinions of the food and will take our business elsewhere.
New Fav in the Burbs!

Found this place on accident and have been in several times. Fantastic wine list. I have gotten steak every time and have never been disappointed. Nice to go someplace without having to drive downtown and not a chain restaurant.
- Pros: Atmosphere, wine, location
- Cons: parking
Fantastic!

First time visitor. Decor was beautiful and calming. The food was fantastic!
The grill was quiet not like coffee house loudness which made the food taste
even better for me. Our waiter was quick but not bothersome. We plan to visit
again.
Our Server ROCKED! - Food was great too!

So this was my first time dining at the Orenco Station Grill. I admit I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews regarding the service, as I had invited a couple that dines out frequently and insists on exceptional and attentive service. I think we came in as the shift was changing because it seemed like it started off a little slow but once our server got our drink order, I could tell we were in good hands. Dustin was polite, attentive, and friendly, you name it. At one point I felt like we were the only people in the whole restaurant because we were having such a good time and he just kept it going. Plates never stacked up, our glasses were always full, and he seemed genuinely interested in our thoughts on the quality of the food, cocktails and choice of wine. To top it off, when my partner left her to-go box behind, Dustin chased us down the sidewalk to make sure she got it before we were long gone. WAY TO GO DUSTIN! I had the Halibut and I?m super picky about my seafood. IT WAS SOOOO GOOD! I suppose if you opt for a table, and stay away from the bar where apparently the owner likes to hang out, you should be alright! I?ll be back!
Good food - lunchtime

I came here a # of times. Always has good food. Worries me now though as their young cook (was 20something - white guy with a goatee) has left. Should have kept him, never had uncooked chicken, you know. Mgr gone too I think. Always sat at the bar. You know man - just hire good guys, keep good guys - lose the rest. Your busser's need to work on their skills. I heard cook went to Reedville Cafe from a coworker just now. Maybe will check it out. Never been there. If it has a bar then I am good to go!! :-)
I will still eat lunch here sometimes.

I recently moved to the Orence area and have visited the grill on multiple occasions. I was impressed on my last visit by their new lunch menu. My server told me they are now featuring weekly food specials. I ordered steak bites and they were fantastic, at a good price and came with good steak fries and a caesar salad. Every time I have dined at the grill the food has been good and the atmosphere splendid. I have enjoyed taking vistiors here because this is a unique restaurant that i love which is hard to find in the commercialized suburbs. It seems that they are dedicated to making improvements and new management is much more in touch. I look forward to dining at the Orenco Station Grill again and encourage everyone to do the same.
- Pros: Great location, good people
Second Time Around

Like the previous reviewer, we moved to Orenco for the SAME reasons in April of this year. I, too, read the reviews and we decided to try anyhow. We were not terribly disappointed. But it was a bit rough around the edges. I, at that time, felt bad for the reviews that had been given.
On second visit, we requested a booth and the owner, who was drinking a bottle of wine at the bar, directed us in and there were three booths that were empty but they were all partially cleaned from the last customers. He stated he did not have a clean booth and proceeded to seat us at a small two person table. After he waltzed away we had a server, who was very kind, clear a booth. They were not busy at all, with no one waiting for tables, one person at the bar other than the owner who was enjoying his bottle of wine with a lady friend and cleary feeling pretty self important. The service was fine but the food lackluster and I am sad to say that I hope ownership changes so that this delightful potential of a location gets the attention it and future customers deserve.
- Pros: POTENTIAL PLUS......great location and cute
- Cons: The Owner is not client oriented
NEVER AGAIN!!!!

WE went to this horrid place last night. It appears to be a nice restaurant because of the beautiful decor. However, the service is slow and unattentive. We ordered Mahi Mahi, a steak, and salmon. The MAHI MAHI was way raw in the middle and had blo o d dripping out of it and was drenched in lemon sauce. The steak was pale and rubbery. The salmon was greasy and overcooked. Our salads were pathetic served on plates the size of a coffee saucer not to mention the lettuce was iceberg and brown on the sides. A couple of my lettuce leaves were gooey inside. That was grocery store salad in a bag I guess????
The only good thing was the champagne and the warm sourdough bread they brought.
Our total came to $130 (so food was about $85-90) but that was way too expensive for poor quality food and service.
The napkins were paper and the butter and salad dressing were in plastic cups. That is soooo classless for a restaurant with $20+ entrees. Even Stanford's has cloth napkins and have glassware for sauces and salad dressings.
We will never go back to Orenco Grill. It was downright gross.
I have had better food at fast food restaurants!!!!
- Pros: Location. Beautiful restaurant and our server was nice.
- Cons: Overpriced for such low quality food and paper napkins.
Good first experience!

We bought a house in Orenco Gardens late last November. Two of our reasons for buying here were the proximity to the Max line and the stores and restaurants within walking distance. I've been dismayed to read some of the very negative remarks about this place because it's located so close to us.
Just last week we had our first opportunity to visit the Orenco Station Grill. We sat outside on the patio rather than on the street side that also has table and chairs on the sidewalk because it was quieter. The weather was beautiful and it was very pleasant.
This first visit was fine. We were out shopping, so we only had items off of the bar and happy hour menu. These were priced very reasonably similar to what Stanfords charges for their happy hour items, although the selection is more limited at Orenco. Happy hour drink prices were low, also, and the glass of wine we had was definately not a "short pour".
I'd say the only negative was that the bartender was also the waiter and he was very busy. However, he was a very nice guy from New Orleans and we enjoyed talking with him.
My son and daughter in law are going to meet over there in an hour or so from now, so this will be experience #2 for me. We'll see how it goes this time. Maybe not tonight, but sometime soon I plan to talk with someone at the restaurant about some of the negative feedback that's on this site (especially the alleged lack of cleanliness and uncooked food) to see how they respond. I'll include that in my next message.
Until next time....
Very good time

We stopped in for an early dnner and had a wonderful time. I don't know why some people write nasty things, perhaps they are just nasty people?
Our food was great the service was good even though we had a new server, she did a very thorough job.
I eat out a lot and this restaurant will certainly have me back. I will reccommend it to my friends.
Don't be misled by a few angry people, I am sure you will enjoy the food and drinks.
- Pros: Very comfortable and good
- Cons: A bit of a drive to get there (but worth the trip)
