A Pleasant Surprise...things have improved!
by pintogal at Citysearch
We recently moved to the Orence Area and tried the OSG for lunch. It was good but not one we felt we would return to with so many other options in the neighborhood. A month or so later I stopped in with a friend for a glass of wine at the bar. Teh wine by the glass list was pretty pricey and the wine glasses were like tea cups...............adding insult to injury.
Well, Friday night my husband and I decided to give it a try as we heard some changes in staff etc. had been made. Dinner was delightful, our waiter was knowledgable and enjoyable, and the fare was tasty and well presented. Well, the clam appetizer left a bit to be desired. Dress it up in a nicer bowl and it would help. My husbands steak looked good and he said it was tender and flavorful. The fries were very good and the house salad that came with the dinner was nice. Ah, and the wine glasses. MUCH improved. We will go back once a month if this keeps up.
- Pros: Close to our home and the light rail, good food in lively setting
- Cons: None really for the $$.
They should close this horrible place!!!

I come to Hillsboro on business every so often. I came to the Orenco Station Grill for appetizers and drinks. I ordered some sliders (small hamburger) and all it had in them was bun meat and some funky sauce. What I bit into was the most disgusting thing ever. The beef patty was bloody raw on the inside!!! The waitress told not to panic.
THE PEOPLE THAT ARE GIVING THIS SH!T HOLE 5 STARS ARE FRIENDS OF THE ESTABLISHMENT! I agree with every single person who gave this place 2 stars below! Nice place, bad service, bad food and prices. I don?t recommend it!
- Pros: Looks nice
- Cons: Poor quality food, horrible service, high priced
Orenco Station Grill Reluctant to Fix Health Issues
by pdxtom at Citysearch
Today on KPTV Orenco Station Grill was "showcased";
It appears that the state has investigated the establishment NUMEROUS times over the last 2 years and found some very serious cleanliness and food safety issues for which the business was cited.
Each time the management has addressed the items just enough to BARELY pass on the subsequent follow up visit (Their average score has been 73; A score of 70 would cause them to be closed down!).
Each time the state inspectors have returned for a standard health inspection the cleanliness issues and health concerns have returned.
The restaurant has been fined and threatened with court action and possible closure if they don't get their act together.
The management have stated that they "disagree" with the idea of living up to state health standards.
Does this sound like a place where you really want to eat?
- Pros: None
- Cons: Serious health concerns.
Daytime review
by Pebbles1 at Citysearch
Came here again around 12:30 on a Friday in June. Could see 2 cooks (1 older & 1 young) from where I was sitting. Had to wait a little to get order put in but not bad. Very busy - lunch rush. Young guy(chef) made my meal before so I asked waitress if he was making sandwichs today. She said yes - older guy salads etc...
So I changed to the chicken sandwich I had before. Again I am VERY grossed out by pink meat - BUT again was made perfect - Not tough or dry & NO PINK! Yeah!! The older chef seemed too slow to me, esp. since it was rush time. The busperson I noticed took too long a time to get around to a dirty table near me. Otherwise good experience again.
I try to write good BUT honest reviews on all sites. Not enough GOOD things said in the world. Reading other reviews here makes me wonder why complaints are not taken to the manager or owner?? I would have gotten the "drunk lady" situation cleared up there right away NOT just complained here. Won't do you any good here other than to vent. OR get back at the company as you are an old employee or something??? Try lunch time - Dinner I think can be trickier - I haven't eaten here at night in a long time so can't review that at all.
Lets Orenco Down

My fiance and I were so disappointed by this place. Grossly overpriced for what you get, sad presentation and, in our case, slow and so-so service. If you're out in Hillsboro or Beaverton, definitely go for the Hall Street Grill instead. Better, much more beautiful food for about the same price.
- Pros: Nice location, super-easy parking
- Cons: Bad service, bad presentation, mediocre food
great ambiance, romantic

I enjoyed my time at Orenco Station Grill. Our night night started off with a beautiful bartender who took great care of us. When we were done waiting for our table, we had a young male server who was extremely professional and faboulous. He recommended the sauteed halibut and it was delicious. I also had a ceasar salad, which was worth paying extra for. This is a great restaurant in the area, the best in town, make sure to to stop by the bar, Sara is worth seeing.
- Pros: Great service, excellent ambiance
- Cons: no kids menu

This first-rate restaurant offers personalized service, a classic environment, and superb food. I ordered the New York Steak, caeser salad, and caramalized onion mashed potatoes (not to mention the tastiest cheese cake I have had in who knows how long). The steak was cooked to perfection; the salad was a great introduction to the main entree, and I couldn't stop eating the mashed potatoes. Conclusion: this restaurant cooks stock grill menu items well and consistently. Yes, the price is just a bit high, but, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a romantic atmosphere or is just tired of the "run of the mill" restaurant scene. The server took care of all of us and never dummied down our role as customers; he served politely, we ate, and left satisfied. Also, the wine is well priced too. Thanks Orenco Station Grill.
Watch it!

I had the southwestern chicken salad, advertised with a grilled chicken breast. There 5 little bites of chicken and lame iceberg lettuce. The most awful. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU CHARGE, THEY WILL ADD EXTRA TO THE TIP AMOUNT!!
- Pros: nice location
- Cons: will add extra to tip amount on charges
Worst restaurant in the Hillsboro/Portland area.

I had lunch today 12/05/06 at the Orenco Grill. I will never go back. I ordered the French Dip sandwich and was amazed at what I received for the price. I received less than an ounce of meat on a hogie roll that was the size of a small hot dog bun. The meat portion was so sparce that I had to physically spread it out on the bread and then it barely covered the small hogie roll. I also had a side salad and the lettuce was wilted. I paid extra to substitute potatoe salad for a green salad. I have had better meals at half the price at Sherry's. The service was OK. I will never go back to the grill and I will tell others to avoid the place. Worst restaurant I have been to in the Portland area. I'm amazed they are still in business.
- Pros: Close to Intel
- Cons: Tiny portions not worth the price paid
Why did I ever go here?
by livinginboro at Citysearch
I really wanted to give this place a try. I first tried to go to Orenco Grill in September 05, but after waiting several minutes at an empty restaurant with my wife, we decided to leave because no one would wait on us or even given us a glass of water at our table. Well, I have a streak of being stubborn and as we were driving by I suggested we go there for another try. The pork chop and the scallops were okay. Nothing to go "wow" over but it was adequate. The part that is plain awful is the service. My wife and I ordered two entrees with mediocre salads (see other reviewers comments), and as other tables received bread we were ignored. Our waitress never asked about our meals and it took her fifteen minutes to swipe our credit card through the machine. The one positive was the coffee that my wife received was in a French press, but they were so busy or just so clueless that they forgot to give her a spoon to mix the cream in her coffee. I am hoping things will either change or a new restaurant will replace the Orenco Grill. I would suggest the management team study the customer service at the New Seasons in Orenco.
- Pros: location, french press coffee
- Cons: Fake flowers-am I at a nursing home
