Price inconsistent with food quality

My husband and I were both dissapointed by our first experience at Orenco Station Grill, which we tried because of the close proximity to our home. For the pricepoint of OSG's menu, one would expect the restaurant to use better quality ingredients. The food wasn't terrible, but definitely not impressive. In the future, we'll either drive a bit farther for a better sit-down meal, or go the Orenco New Seasons deli for a convenient, lower-cost option. Either way, the quality will be better and more in line with what we would expect to pay. Portland has too many other restaurants to settle.

Too Many Chances

I am sad to say that I agree with most of the negative experiences shared by others. I am sad to say I have been a frequent visitor, enjoying the French Dip (however overpriced) for a few months. I don't know what day of the week the bread for the sandwich arrives, but I can tell that sometimes it is stale when served. A few days ago my bread was masacred. I have no idea why it was missing the top layer of the loaf. Now I wonder whether it was foul play. Whether or not there are extra fries sitting around, you may wish to make a fresh batch; customers expect fresh food.

The service is generally poor, long wait times after being seated and often far too long to present the bill.

I will not be going back. But Orenco Management, if you are listening (I don't think you are since you have had a good amount of feedback to respond to) I gave you a really fair shot.

Adequate, but just barely

Our experience at Orenco Grill was unexceptional. The service, which I would give a "B" rating, was efficient and courteous. The atmosphere is like most newish bar & grill estabilishments with mid grade finish work, canned artwork, piped in DMX for background sound, and painted a color that was popular in the last few years. The food was definitely the low light. The pricing would suggest a mid-level quality kitchen, but the reality was I've had equivalent fair at Applebees or Marie Callander (sp?). The "reduction" put on the steak was definitely straight out of a bottle. The mashed potatos tasted like boxed potatos (all be it with flecks of skin in them), the wines by the glass were pretty marginal (still charged $9-$12 per though) and the salad was 95% iceberg lettuce with all of your dressing choices being from a bottle as well. There was nothing about the eveing that I would complain to managment about, but when comparing the experience to one that I had one week prior at Beesaw's on 23rd for the exact same price point I was left underwhelmed.

Second Time Around

Like the previous reviewer, we moved to Orenco for the SAME reasons in April of this year. I, too, read the reviews and we decided to try anyhow. We were not terribly disappointed. But it was a bit rough around the edges. I, at that time, felt bad for the reviews that had been given.

On second visit, we requested a booth and the owner, who was drinking a bottle of wine at the bar, directed us in and there were three booths that were empty but they were all partially cleaned from the last customers. He stated he did not have a clean booth and proceeded to seat us at a small two person table. After he waltzed away we had a server, who was very kind, clear a booth. They were not busy at all, with no one waiting for tables, one person at the bar other than the owner who was enjoying his bottle of wine with a lady friend and cleary feeling pretty self important. The service was fine but the food lackluster and I am sad to say that I hope ownership changes so that this delightful potential of a location gets the attention it and future customers deserve.

• Cons: The Owner is not client oriented

Lets Orenco Down

My fiance and I were so disappointed by this place. Grossly overpriced for what you get, sad presentation and, in our case, slow and so-so service. If you're out in Hillsboro or Beaverton, definitely go for the Hall Street Grill instead. Better, much more beautiful food for about the same price.

top ten?!?

As I was checking out citysearch for some places to go on my 21st b-day, I was shocked to see this place on the list for top ten places to see and be seen. This is a boring, overpriced, middle-aged snooty rich person's restaurant with no pizzazz or any tid bit of fun or trendiness or creativity at all. I went there with my parents for dinner on a weekend and it was very overpriced. If you go, go for lunch and DO NOT try any dessert- we tried three and they were all bad.

Stanford's, here we come!

Not only were the employees very un-attentive, we didn't get served for 55 minutes. When they finally decided to serve us, it was too late & we left. Went back a second time, & they cooked my sandwich, but never made my friends salad, so my sandwich got cold. When they offered to remake it, we waited another 20 minutes to get our food. When we finally got it, I concluded I would have rather gone Applebee's or Stanfords.

Limited selection

Great atmosephere, limited selection, below average service and only average steak quality. Not worth the price.
