Excellent music selection, fun crowd, great dancing, lots of cute guys. The scene was so fun, everyone was enjoying the music and they take requests of all kinds of 80's. We danced to Billy Idol, AC/DC, The Cure, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, and Erasure all by request. The beers are a little pricey, but the cover charge is nothing. This isn't a snob bar, it seemed like everyone was fun and sociable. I highly recommend it for Friday nights. See ya there!

Being in Portland for a weekend and stumbling upon a time machine. We ventured upon Lola's 80's night. I was instantly warped back to high school dancing to all my favorites and not having a care in the world about who was watching. Of course the "floating floor" was a little un-nerving but it didn't last long.
Pros: Awesome dancing, Great Music
Cons: too smokey

been going to the friday "shut up and dance" gig with dj gregarious since they opened it in early 2001. and the best thing about it is that the crowd is not pretentious in any way. everybody is out to have a good time, and a good time they do have. always a good vibe going in the place. i wish that they had a saturday night gig as well, but oh well...sometimes i get tired of hearing "dancin' with myself" but nobody else seems to. just a good all around vibe. nice wooden dance floor, mellow lighting, and good bathrooms to boot. drinks aren't bad, but not overly strong either. i do think the bartender's shouldn't charge full price though when i go back for my 3rd coke. you'd think after 3 you'd get a freebie. oh well..but i'm all over this place. love it..
Pros: nice crowd, good vibe, no pretentiousness
Cons: parking

My friend had told me Lola's featured 80's music. I expected mediocre pop but found myself emersed in more obscure new wave and punk that brought back a flood of alternative nostalgia. The DJ (what's his name, anyway?) does not mess around. Requests are played almost as quickly as they are made--and he has it all. Too bad Lola's only operates on Fridays. If you want to get your groove on with other non-pretentious hipsters, this is it.
Pros: music, people, strong drinks
