I was very upset when an employee at Hip Chicks cancelled on my bridesmaid for our shower reservation at the last minute, but they did get back with her after the party to sincerely apologize and make amends. I appreciate the owner's recognition of the bad experience and willingness to reach out and offer us another chance to experience their service.

My wife and I recently attended the Chicks' "Chocolate and Barrel Tasting" event - it was a great time. After we paid a small fee at the door (we signed up to become Hip Chicks Wine Club members, so future events will be FREE!!!), we were given a group tour of the winery. Renee gave us some history and then gave us samples of raw wine RIGHT FROM THE BARRELS. It was soooo cool. After the tour, we sampled some fine, local chocolates (we like the Blue Cheese Chocolate Truffles the best). We then proceeded to the tasting room for 4-6 different samples. We had a great time and we'll be back!
Pros: Close-in Portland location, love the warehouse/industrial feel
Cons: Parking was crowded

We went to Hip Chicks Do Wine because of the advertised annual "stomp". Naturally, seeing the word "stomp", we thought that we would be able to stomp on the grapes with our feet, something we have always wanted to do. When we showed up, we paid our $7 entrance fees and entered only to see them crushing the grapes with machines. Are my three compatriots and me the only people who think that stomp implies with the feet? I don't think so. Beacuse of the great come-on the place was too crowded and there was a huge line even to get a taste. As a result, I only got to try their decent cabernet and their very uninteresting Syrah. They did supply some nice Riesling grape juice and the hors d'oevres were good, but considering everything this was quite a disappointment.
Pros: Grape juice tasting
Cons: Inaccurate Advertising, Overpriced wines

What a great winery! The owners/winemakers are there to pour you tastes and answer questions about wine. How refreshing to have a real working winery in the middle of Portland. I went to one of the wine classes and learned so much that I never knew about wine.
Pros: fun, knowlegable, Good Wine!
