Not bad, not good
by courtneylove at Citysearch
We had lunch at Papa Haydn and skipped dessert to try Pix only to be disappointed. I had the Jane Avril and my husband had the the Royale. The treats were mediocre and overpriced (5$ for a morsel the size of a cupcake). The service was good, however, and the tiny shoppe quaint. Perhaps the chocolates selection would have been a better choice, but we will never again skip dessert at Papa Haydn to opt for Pix.
- Pros: charming decor
- Cons: not a good value
This is how dessert should be done
by ithicks at Citysearch
This place is fantastic. Papa Hayden's doesn't have competition.... they have been outdone by far. These desserts are fantastic, well priced, and the staff are super nice (Papa Hayden's may want to take a note on the last one). If you are looking for a place to have a cup of coffee or beer and superb desserts, look no farther!
- Pros: desserts, desserts, desserts
Poor service
by skae1 at Citysearch
The desserts were excellent.
However, the service was extremely poor.
The waitress was not prompt to serve us.
For instance, when the menu order was requested we were ignored. Instead, the group that came after us was served first.
I believe that service is very important for any branch of business.
If personnel is an issue, they should consider hiring someone else that can provider better service.
- Pros: dessert, craft, tasteful
- Cons: service, ambiance, location
Best in Portland

Papa Haydn, better be worried. This place puts you to shame! Blow off dessert at every meal and run, don't walk, down to Pix. Their selections are incredible! From the desserts to the truffles, everything is ambrosia and sometimes daring (beer float is sleeper). They also have a wonderful wine selection. They only downside is they have no non-carbonated/non-alcoholic beverages (would it be so hard to have some juices?). This place won't be a secret for long.
- Pros: Creative, Fun, World Class
- Cons: No juices
Oh, YUMMY!!!

WOW! These desserts are to die for!! Try the Tart MenageaTrois, positively orgasmic! Or the Queen of Sheba Truffle Cake, so moist and rich and choclaty it simply melts in your mouth.
- Pros: Desserts to die for, Fun atmosphere, friendly staff
Pix Me Up!
by annamaria at Citysearch
I've introduced five friends to Pix and all gave it a solid 10. The desserts are creative to eclectic, sinfully rich, and decadently decorated. I've tried the award winning Amelie, Royale, Margielane's Potluck Pleaser and Port Fig Chocolate Tart. Just to give an idea of the potency of these seemingly petite creations, the Amelie has sponge, chocolate mousse, hazelnut crocant, chocolate ganache, Cointreau and a tiny crème brulee on top. Okay, I confess, I've also indulged in the handmade chocolates, which you can get gift boxed to pretend they aren't for you. Don't miss the Scooby Snacks, we tried the Brioche grilled cheese, dates wrapped in bacon simmered in Maple syrup and the four-cheese plate with toasted Brioche. They stay open late, play great music, have a good selection of beer, wine, Champagne and make real European style coffees. Service is great, you feel completely comfortable lingering.
- Pros: Decadent, Great Service, Open Late
pix is a pass

I was very excited to go to Pix. I was impressed by the decor and the service. Unfortunately the desserts we had did not measure up. We tried the puff pastry apple almond tart, a coffe dessert and the queen of sheba cake. The queen of sheba cake was decent. The other two could have been made at home better. If you are looking for a special treat pass pix and spend 2 or 3 more dollars and go to Papa Haydn's
- Pros: decor, service
- Cons: dessert, crowded
Pix's Schtick...

If you truely are a "pastry slut" and are 100% passionate about all things pastry/chocolate than this boutique is a pure treasure. Comfy, warm, and very inviting decor and cool sounds, I could just linger and drool for hours. On par with shops in Manhattan!
