Delicious Food and Great Staff

by brendan1990

I absolutely love this restaurant. I am a huge fan and every time I go here I have a great time. The prices are high but the portions are large. The food is all quality and I can't recommend this place more. The waiters cook in front of you and do cool tricks. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Sherwood area.

  • Pros: Great Environment, Friendly Staff, Good Food Portions
  • Cons: Sometimes very busy

Ruined my mother's birthday dinner.

by Toxicogenomicist

My family and I chose Fuji's for my mother's birthday dinner this week. We decided to go there because the last time we went to Fuji's was back in 2000, and it was (emphasis on "was") a neat place - food cooked tableside, chefs tossing knives, all that fun stuff. What we got this time was the worst service I have experienced in more than 10 years and food much worse than your typical $5 wok-on-the-run type joint.

Here's the rundown for our night: We arrived at 7:00 and was sat at a large table with 4 people already there, waiting to order. We ordered drinks and then all of us waited until 7:45 (45 minutes!) before they would take our food order. (The place was not busy) During this time we had only 1 tea refill. In fact, throughout the whole meal we didn't get any real tea refills, just more hot water to steep my already-used-and-now-flavorless tea bag. The tea low quality, too.

We ordered our food, which was very expensive, and waited again for a chef to arrive. After another 25 minutes a chef begins to cook. Here's where it gets fun - the fried rice was so dry that the rice kernels were crunchy. The yakisoba noodles were so inedibly dry and burned that they cracked apart into fragments. My scallops were overcooked to the point where they felt like hard rubber tires. The veggies were stale. And ALL of the food was saltier than beef jerky. Even the salad.

We didn't leave a tip; that's how bad it was. Now, listen here, I don't mean "we didn't leave a tip because it didn't live up to our expectations." We are not snobs, nor do we demand great luxury. I mean "we didn't leave a tip in the hopes that people will get fired." Every person at my table left full plates of food behind, and we turned down their offers for a to-go container. It was terrible. We ate at another restaurant on the way home from Fujis.

The price - $120 for terrible service and very, very poor food.

My suggestion - don't go to Fuji's.

  • Pros: The sushi wasn't bad, but not good either.
  • Cons: Slow service, very very bad food, high prices, waste of time and money.

It was okay I guess

by kszoob

My daughter wanted sushi for her birthday and Fuji's was close. I asked around and got relatively positive responses so thought we'd give it a try. We were disappointed. The food was fine, the atmosphere was fine. Prices are high. We had heard that sushi was 1/2 price Mon-Thur. Apparently this is only true for parties of less than 6. We were a party of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids). They also added a 17% tip. We were not happy with either of these. As a family, we should have the discount. As a group, we prefer to be "allowed" to choose our tip amount. Service was not rude exactly, but not especially attentive either. They were simply doing only what was necessary to cover the job. They did not seem overly friendly or caring of our dining needs. The server even seemed to have a tendency toward feelings of offense and misunderstanding. They did bring my daughter something special for her birthday (a pineapple boat w/candle) and we all sang, but I doubt we'll go back any time soon. (by the way, we were there on a Wed night and the place was not very busy)

The best sushi in the metro area!

by leannb

Reading these reviews, I wondered if the reviewers aren't competing businesses! I have always had great service (they know me by name!) and I have never seen any of the 'health' issues that other reviewers spoke of. The sushi is fantastic, and they've spoiled me - I can't eat sushi anywhere else! The rest of my family enjoys the grill, and there are no complaints there, either. In fact, it's one of our family's favorite haunts.

Fantastic sushi, great grill and exemplary service. What more could you ask for??

  • Pros: Sushi, service, grill food
  • Cons: Hard to get into on a weekend night

CALL THE HEALTH AUTHORITY!

by avidsushifan

I just had to worst lunch experience: ESPN turned up very loud and competing with a radio station, surly service, dry rice, soggy seaweed (nigiri). But the worst part was one of the hispanic grill chefs was banging his knives all over his work station, for about 5 minutes. Then he went in the back, blew his nose, did not wash, and proceeded to wash dishes. Came back out, went back, wiped his nose with his bare hand then - again without washing, proceeded to slice carrots! He then tossed an onion in the air which struck the ceiling, then put it in the cooler. Then the big white guy that works the front, took one of his cooking utensils in the back, hammered a dent out of it, and, without washing it, proceeded back to his cooking station! None of this is an exageration! I have NEVER been so disgusted in my life and will NEVER GO BACK. In fact, I am contacting the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce to find out who I can file a formal complaint with.

I have never commented on here before but felt it warranted. I am a huge sushi enthusiast, but more even more so a particular diner. I don't each out much but when I do, I expect a relaxing, clean and friendly environment.

Bad rude service

by mictang

The waitress there was rude and didn't have any eye contact. Totally walked pass us when we raised our hands to get her attention to have our tea re-filled. She pretended not to notice us when I knew she saw us from the corner of her eyes. DON'T go unless you like to throw away $$$ and like being treated bad and discriminated. ( You know how, some people that are of your own ethnicity look down/ treat you bad)

  • Cons: Rude bad service.

Avoid it unless you like to throw $ away

by giottoman

Three of us went there, had miso soup, a couple of salads 2 beers, and sushi. The bill came to almost 95.00 waaayyy to much for the quality. Try the place across hwy 99 instead. I havent tried that one yet myself but you can bet I will next time or go to sushi train instead. I would go to a Chinese buffet before I would go here again. Unlike the other reveiws I did not think the staff was rude. I will NEVER go back though. So like Nancy Reagan would say "Just say no to fuji's".

RUDE STAFF!!!!

by smick

We have gone here now a few times...and will never go back. We ordered our food (sushi only) and after 45 minutes of waiting for it I went to ask if it was started. The lady at the counter said they were very busy with take outs and ours would be done soon (was very rude) keep in mind others around us that ordered after us had got there sushi already! When I returned to my seat it just so happened that I was facing the rude waitress to notice she was mumbling under her breath about me. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!!!

We love the Fujis in Clackamas and have been long standing customers there and will continue to take the drive to Clackamas to go there!!!!

Mall Food at restaurant prices! with Poor rude service! STAY AWAY!

by FastKatanaBoy

What an over prices place!

Poor service: the waitress and hostess were both rude. The meat portions were super small and the noodles over cooked as well as bland. Also, the scallops where over cooked. Nothing special or good about this place. I will NOT be returning.

The food was very similair to the Japanese food in the mall but 4x the price.

Save you time and money. Go elsewhere.

  • Pros: Close to my house
  • Cons: small over cooked meat portions, poor service and bland noodles

Delicious sushi

by starxlover20

This is a wonderful resturaunt (and they have one in Vancouver, WA) too. Sunday through Thursday, most of their sushi is 50% off. The specialty rolls, while not 50% off, are absolutely delicious. The grill is also quite tasty if you're interested, though its more expensive than their sushi. I would suggest this place to anyone who loves sushi!

  • Pros: Discount sushi during week, specialty rolls
  • Cons: Slow service sometimes
