I used to go to amazin' glazin' with my daughter all the time under the old owner. There was a nice selection of Jewish products which was nice, and a good assortment of things to choose in a wide price range. My daughter was given a gift tile for $30. I was not aware that the ownership had changed. They refused to honor the gift certificate but offered a discount. I decided that rather than let my daughter be disappointed, I would pay for what she wanted to do, and accepted the discount. The entire time we were painting the owner and the assistant were discussing how old the gift tile was, and how amazing it was that we thought we could redeem it. We were 10 feet away!!!! Very poor customer service. The selection only contains a few obviously leftover Jewish pieces, and the prices have really gone up. The assistant hovered over our table to whisk paints back into place, apparently they stock much fewer and to keep them at the table the whole time was an issue. We will paint pottery again, but not at Amazin Glazin.

Pros: nice environment, tables are well set up good lighting

Cons: poor selection, rude owner, not much stock in glazes

Great customer service! I brought my 6 year old daughter in to paint a bank and ended up booking a party for her birthday. There was 16 five and six year olds and they handled the party beautifully. I highly recomend this studio for any occasion. I have been back several times with friends and family and always feel welcome. Also, they have the best selection and prices in Portland.

Pros: they are very helpful

Cons: closed on Mondays

I was a loyal and regular customer with past Amazin' Glazin owner. We have brought our little girl there to do 4 mugs, a platter, flower container and planned on continuing to go create over years to come. We were given a gift card tile to use and I brought my little artist to do her work. She spent an hour working on the plate and during that time I discussed how much we had enjoyed our past experiences at Amazin Glazin. When it came time to present my gift card/tile the new owner would not accept it!! She said she has a system that she marks the back of the tiles and this one had been purchased with past owner so she wouldn't take it!! She also made a remark"you could have gotten this anywhere". It is a tile that says "Amazin' Glazin" with the $50 amount. I was so mad that she obviously has no concept of customer service. There is no way to make a tile like that on my own without their equipment and if I did it would be for more thatn $50!! I could not believe after all the business I have done on my own there, plus sent other people there and have even bought a couple gift cards for others she was not taking my gift card. I am big on great customer service which is why I have always come back there. I will never go back again! There are other "you paint pottery" places in town that we will try out. That kind of customer service mentality is going to drive customers away and when she fails we will give the new owner a chance to start fresh with us.

Pros: Great idea for kids to create

Cons: Owner has no customer service skills

It seems that Sheenalena was angry about the tile being thrown away after she had called and was assured that it was still available. It sounds like this phone conversation occured after the 30 days. I bet this anger could have been avoided if the shopkeeper had simply called to let people know that the tiles were going to be thrown away and if they weren't picked up before then they would no longer be available. Many businesses offer grace periods to build in goodwill and establish excellent customer relationships. This may have helped calm Sheenalena as well. Maybe next time Amazin' Glazin will think about the customer service angle.

Pros: Not very busy

Cons: Needs to consider their customer's point of view more

Sheenalena needs to chill out. I mean, seriously. SHE was at fault in not picking up her tile on time. Amazin Glazin obviously has limited storage capacity. What if everyone pulled what sheena pulled? The pottery would be coming out the window. By allowing her granddaughter to make a second tile for FREE, they went above and beyond what they were obligated to do. To STIll feel disgruntled and to go around bad-mouthing the business is just wrong. Sheena, get a grip and stop being such a demanding and difficult customer. Life is too short, and after all, we are talking about a $10 piece of pottery!

What a disappointment. This company had a table at the Yard, Garden and Patio show where for $10.00 you could have your child create a tile that they would then take back to their shop and fire. I forgot about it and then came across the receipt and noticed that they requested it be picked up within 30 days. I was past the 30 days, but decided to call and see if they still had the tile. The person who answered the phone told me no problem they still had the tiles and I could come and pick mine up. A week later I made a special trip to the shop to pick up the tile my granddaughter had created and the girl at the cash register told me they had thrown all of the tiles away! What a shock after being assured a week earlier that there was no problem and the tile was still available. I was very disappointed. They did offer to allow my grandaughter to create a new tile at no charge, but what a pain! I live in Tigard and my granddaughter lives in Gresham. My question is why didn't they call? I bet they lost alot of goodwill from many people over what I consider a lack of judgement. The girl at the cash register was just sitting around. She could have been making calls to people like me warning us that they would be disposing of the tiles and the date by which we needed to pick them up. Sadly, this did not happen. I will never set foot in that shop again and will tell everybody else to stay away too. Incidentally, I did e-mail the shop prior to this posting and never received a response.

Cons: They don't call you, they just throw your work away.

Wow! I had my bachelorette party start here and Phil was AWESOME. He was very helpful explaining the whole process. We could bring music, food, and libations. He gave us a quick rundown about the various paints and glazes and how to get the best results. The only problem was deciding WHAT to paint. I had some guests from out of town and he ACTUALLY CAME TO MY RECEPTION to DROP OFF PEOPLE'S STUFF. I could not believe it! What a great guy! I will definately be back!

Pros: Comfortable atomspher, lots of stuff , helpful staff

Cons: somewhat limited park

This place truly is the best to paint pottery in Portland. I arranged a 30th birthday party for a friend here and the customer service was fabulous! The owner was attentive and helpful at every turn. They could accommodate a large group, the prices were very reasonable and there was no extra materials fee! They even provided a gift for the birthday girl. If you are looking for a place to have a party...this is it.
