India Chaat House Is Still Here
by SamJam
India Chaat House was sold to Cheema, a very nice person. Daljit taught Cheema and it is the same great food. Please come and enjoy as you always have. This is the real India Chaat House, there is no other. 503-241-7944
Daljit, who was the chef, is not involved in any restaurant at this time.
- Pros: Bright Orange Truck on the corner
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?

The Food at India Chaat House Sucks.
Use to be the best way back when. Now it sucks.
I am not there for the cart. I am there for the FOOD. And which ever I like better I will eat.
And I choice Bombay Chaat House.
That is all I will say.
Bombay Chaat House is the OLD India Chaat House
by dilsadapunjabi
The India Chaat house SOLD. Yep it is true, after talking to Daljit Singh. He said he sold India Chaat house to a Pakistani guy name Cheema or Mike as he calls him self. Mike may say Daljit is on vacation to every customer such as my self, But its his word against Daljit's. India Chaat House is Turned to a Pakistani. Indian FOOD or is it?
Where did Daljit go you would ask? Daljit is to busy enjoying his new 22 year old Wife. After getting a divorce from Avtar and having it be official, Daljit was married to a 22 years old. Trust me, I was at his wedding. That is where he said the business is sold.

best Indian food in town
by foodhaus
Vegetarian and delicious. The lunch special, at 5 bucks for 5 (predetermined) items, is a great deal. It's all I need to eat for an entire day. This is BY FAR the best food cart in town, and the best cheap Indian food period. (For expensive Indian, go to Plainfield's Mayur). I eat and cook tons of Indian food and this is the best. Try the Samosa Chaat (a little snack-like-thing), the lunch special, the malai kofta, and the paneer dishes. YUMMY. Also, request hot sauce.
- Pros: cheap and delicious, best cart in town, open until 7, open on Saturdays
Tasty, authentic veggie Punjabi food
by muttoneer
I went to school around here and my friends and I had to have gone here at least once (usually at least twice) a week. I'd order the aloo kulcha and a mango lassi for a light, extra-cheap lunch, or the lunch special, but only if i wanted something leftover for dinner. Portions are huge. the naan (and its variants) is the best in portland, hands down. Good entrees and really interesting options on the chaat menu. Good drinks and rice pudding, too!
- Pros: a friendly face, great food, low price
- Cons: not a lot of seating, all vegetarian
Good food and quantity
by srkkreddy
They serve tasty food... my favorite is Chana Batura. But, sometimes when it is cold, they will not be able to serve this. Still they have other tasty items like Shahi Panneer.
A very good place for a take out.
And they are not open in the evenings and weekends.
- Pros: Good food, Good quantities
- Cons: Pay for parking
Yum!

This is the best Indian food I have had in town. The Shahi Paneer is to die for, and the naan is cooked in a tandoori oven right there in the cart! All vegetarian and wonderfully nice family that run it. One of my very favorite places to eat. Super cheap prices and huge portions.
Update: August 2005:
I just wanted to mention that I still go here all the time, and have become vegan since I wrote my review. I was very sad I couldn't have navraten koorma anymore - but now they offer any menu option veganized! They almost always have soymilk to replace cream, but are often out of tofu to replace paneer. So still my fave. Yay for India Chaat House! P.S. they have opened a sit down restaurant in Keizer near Salem but I haven't made it out there yet. Give them business!!!
- Pros: Inexpensive, Fantastic food, all vegetarian
- Cons: nothing at all!
