Worst service ever, mediocre product

I have frequented Mio Gelato for years now, and the other two locations seem fine, but this on NW 11th, has gone downhill. In one particular instance last week, I went in for an iced latte and asked the barista to pour my shots over the ice. Instead, she made them badly and then let them set there and die as she and the other coworkers had sample after sample after sample of gelato while they ignored customers that had recently arrived. When I asked the girl to remake my drink, she yelled at me and refused, telling me that she wasn't going to waste more coffee and milk on me as she threw more and more plastic spoons away taking personal gelato samples while on the job. I asked for her name, and I'm sure what she told me was fake: Sarah. She refused to give me contact information for a higher up, so I emailed the owner of the stores in town and they never even bothered to get back to me. Having been a barista before, and knowing what good service is, I have a lot of empathy for people that work in service positions. As a current business owner, I have a lot of empathy for owners that have to deal with employees gone awry. I have been very kind up until now, but no longer: go to this and other Mio Gelato stores at your own risk. They clearly don't care about customers, service, or having a good product.

Worst gelato EVER - Pizza will probably be terrible, too

Gelato is awful. Choices slim and expensive. Can't even have 2 flavors in the smallest cup. What a rip. Doesn't even compare to Alato Gelato on NW 23rd. Now, there is a deal and delicious gelato!

Went to the NE 15th location. BIG CLUE: place was empty! What does that tell you (at 8pm in the evening) and the person at the front counter could barely get up to serve us.

Terrible. They will shut down soon.. no way they can pay those rents with that type of product and service.

Good riddance.

YUM! YUM! YUM!

LOVE it!! Very close (maybe better?) to the gelato I love to eat when in Italy. Great flavors, always fresh tasting, open in the late evening, clean. Just overall terrific.

Low Quality gelato

Mio Gelato doesn't have a large variety of flavors, and they taste like they came our of a can. This doesn't taste like hand made gelato, it is a dissapointment

amazing gelato

the gelato here is fantastic. the pear flavor tastes like an actual pear.. in gelato form! everything is SO flavorful and real tasting. i recommend the fruit flavors like pear, apple, or grapefruit to understand fully what im talking about. so many flavors to choose from and theyre all displayed beautifully. in fact, with such an impressive gelato display up front, ive never even cared to see the selection of sandwiches and stuff they have on the sides. perfect place to finish an afternoon of shopping at buffalo exchange and reading at powells, both located in the same intersection. delicious.

Best Gelato in Portland

It's become a favorite for the kids. And the staff is supper nice.

The flavors are amazing and not too sweet.

feel sorry for the staff

mio gelato has good gelato but i have to feel sorry for the staff. There seems to be tremendous turnover at the 23rd location, and no one seems happy to be working there. My other objection to this place is that Illy coffee isn't my thing -- we're in Portland, why not take advantage of one of the more delectable local roasters? Overall, an ok experience but I avoid it.

Overrated

Parking too difficult, Wait staff not friendly. Slow, i found the atmosphere pretentious. Not worth it. The gelato was average at best. Try elsewhere.

Mio Gelato is GELATO, anything else is just icecream!

I love Mio Gelato, expecially the delicious amarena flavour, which is typically Italian and consists of vanilla gelato with amarena cherries. It's excellent and makes me remember my Italian childhood. I also enjoyed many other flavours and think that Mio Gelato is really a great place to taste gelato.
