User Reviews for Dosha Salon Spa

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I have worked at Dosha for many, many years and I love it. I am frustrated reading the posts of former employees complaining about working at Dosha and not liking it. As a long term employee, I can say with much experience that Dosha is a great place to work. If you are a hard working, ambitious person, Dosha is the place to work. From my many years of employment, I have found that the lazy do not like Dosha because we have high standards with whom we employ and we expect employees to meet these standards. Let me make clear to you that I am not management, supervisor, or lead employee. I work for Dosha and I love it. As any company, we have our flaws and we work constantly to improve them. We do care about the people we serve on a daily basis and strive to give great service. Dosha is an amazing place to work with amazing opportunities.

I made an appointment, they called me to confirm the appointment the day before and then when I showed up, it somehow no longer existed. No apologies... aparently somehow it was my fault. Not at all what they used to be.

Pros: Nice Location

Cons: Very pretentious... front desk staff rude and unhelpful.

The first time that I got a haircut from Dosha it was Awesome but when I called to make another appointment , the stylist didn't work there anymore. So I decided that I would try a getting my haircut with another person. I am not pleased with my haircut she did the exact opposite of what I wanted . This place it way over priced . My son was looking at the fire place and the receptionist got all freaked out then told me that children were not welcome. She should told me when I made the appointment so that I could find someone to watch him.Don't waste your money at this awful place.

Pros: nothing

Cons: Everything

Yeah I worked for them for a year and a half. Most therapists are overworked and under payed with little benefits unless you want to pay out the wazoo for them. Many people I worked with were in a great deal of pain themselves and not to mention in order to make a decent wage you had to work 40 plus hours a week doing 25 or more massages a week which is almost impossible for LMTs. I continued to get my haircuts here because I didn't know where else to go and then got a really bad cut, wanted a redo, phonecalls weren't returned and I gave up swearing never to go back again.

Pros: products are decent

Cons: treament of staff transfers into treatment of clients, cattle

I got a gift certificate to Dosha for my birthday. I called to make the appointment and the person I spoke with was very rude. I let that slide and went for my massage. I was treated like garbage by everyone I spoke with. I gave my name and was told to "sit over there". I was left waiting for much too long. My massage was not very good. They try to come across as very high end and upscale, but they really arent. They charge too much money for second rate services. I still have money left on my gift certificate but have no intention of using it. I recommend saving your money and spending it somewhere that will give you much better service.

Pros: nothing

Cons: everything

This place is heaven. The best I have had in hair service for many years. Lately, I have been visiting for spa time....you know, massage and body services. It has been great. All the great service I have enjoyed downstairs for years is likewise in the upstairs spa. And yes, they have a WONDERFUL soaking pool that started taking the kinks out before I even went for the massage last time. Kudos to Dosha for a great time in a pretty place.

Pros: great service in an amazing space

Cons: parking

As a former employee of Dosha I must say... I was very dissatisfied with the way Dosha presents itself to the client, compared to the actual situation and inner workings of the spa. I too agree that the front desk staff are often cold and uncaring. They do not appear interested in the client beyond meeting their required quota for sales. It is said that some front desk workers have also been discovered to be pocketing tips that clients leave for their technician or therapist instead of giving it the rightful person. On that note, if you liked your services there, tip that person directly. The appearance of the facility on the surface, is posh, classy and pleasing. However, the standard that Dosha claims to offer is not being met on several levels. For example; employees have been overheard saying that the hot tub is not properly maintained and personally I would not enter it. The conversation of employees observed downstairs is often inappropriate and crude. I quickly became tired of apologizing for the callous treatment the client had received from the front desk and the noise and conversations that they may have been exposed to. I felt that there was a general lack of professionalism and respect for the clients that are vital to the business. Overall, there is a shabbiness to the whole spa that led me conclude that Dosha is not what it seems and although many of the services offered are done by qualified, professional, caring employees, those employees see very little of the money you paid for that service. Therefore, you are paying to support a corporation, not a person and often you are not getting the experience you are expecting and deserving of. I recommend doing your research if you want a quality spa experience, and going somewhere else!

Pros: Quality Technicians and Therapists

Cons: Empty Facade

sorry, I really wanted to like my experience but I felt neglected. The haircare products smell great but I think the results were just average. I hope Aveda wil work harder to improve customer service and skill with the stylists.

Pros: modern style, atmosphere

Cons: parking, service could nicer

I had heard numerous adds about Dosha... It sounded great... Not true. I came in for a bazillion wax, so we are gonna get personal. I was dressed down, and comfortable... I walked in a quickly got the "look over", as if I clearly didn't know where I was, and was in the wrong place. No one greeted me, they just looked at me. I said I had an appointment. They looked me up and still said nothing... I waited for a few minutes, and was then asked to follow this woman up the stairs... Ok... I am feeling very awkward at this point... Upstairs is where the salon is. I am told to wait "here". I sit down and look around... waiting, and wondering if I have made a mistake... I am then led into a cold "closet-like" room and asked to lay down on the table... the table is a metal table with no bedding of any kind... like an exam table for animals. The walls were concrete and no music, candles, or anything of the sort that you would expect if you were going to take your pants off.... I was so uncomfortable... Needless to say, I have spoken with several people in the salon/spa industry, and they told me that Dosha is where all the newbies go. Dosha has a horrible policy that if someone leaves to go get a job elsewhere, they cannot take clients with them... I met a woman who used to work for them, and she said it was an awful experience... and I was clearly in the wax training room. I advise you to spend you money at a locally owned spa, where people are real, and they don't have cold steal tables...

Pros: none

Cons: rude staff, cold dark wax room

This place prides themselves on being a very upscale salon but they really are no better than a Great Clips. The first time I went here I thought it was okay, maybe I had just got a girl who wasnt good at cutting hair. The next few times I went to get my hair done I realized this place really isnt all that it's cracked out to be. When I got highlights they looked horrible, not only did they look really grown out but they were not how I asked them to be. I would never recommend this place. There are many other upscale salons in Portland that do a better job.

Pros: Looks nice on the inside

Cons: Everything
