I have one friend who took his dog to Noah's Arf and one friend who is a former employee. According to the dog owner, the service was passable at first, although after a time, his dog refused to go into the kennel and wouldn't eat while there. He was especially angry about the terrible haircut the dog received from Arf's groomer. You could see all of the razor marks, like it was shaved with a weed-whacker. My friend who worked there was really excited in the beginning due to the warm nature of the owner, but said they eventually realized it was just a front and the place is actually run like some huge corporation with people being asked to train their replacements and then getting fired without knowing what was going on. The turnover is so high because of this type of sheisty duplicity. When it comes to the actual care of the dogs, they fail to establish an area for the dogs to urinate or defecate, leaving YOUR dog to run around in/eat other dogs' waste. They care nothing of actually moderating the dogs' behavior, and don't even try. I heard many stories of bloody fights breaking out. Apparently employees without any expertise were favored over those with actual skill handling dogs and the animals were left in the care of people with no knowhow about training. Scheduling sounded like a nightmare and the promise of 2-3 employees watching the dogs at all times was not upheld. Though this IS the only 24 hour facility in Portland, there are numerous other good kennels in the area. Doggy Day Cares that treat their dogs well and their employees fairly, make house calls, and are reliable. Give THEM your money. Noah Arf's promise of an independent/ non-corporate/ local and friendly environment is a bald-faced lie.
Pros: Some nice facilities, work to keep customers happy.
Cons: Dogs handled poorly, employees treated poorly, dog waste abounds.
