Meat, has an excellent selection of healthy pets foods for both dogs and cats. The shop owner is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I appreciated the samples she gave us because we have a very picky dog. Although this shop is out of our way, we will definitely be back again I love the great selection of raw food for my dogs. I highly recommend this shop.
Pros: Great selection of raw food.
Cons: Parking.

Heidi is the best. She really helped us make the transition to raw meat for our dogs, which has made them happier and healthier. Her store is a great example of how good customer service, a great selection, and a positive attitude can make a small local business thrive. She also holds regular fundraisers for animal-related non-profits. Support her and take amazing care of your pets in the process!
Pros: Helpful Staff, Great Service, Discounts for Bulk Purchases
Cons: Closed on Sundays? (whenever we seem to run out of food)

I love to take my dog and as many friends dogs to Meat as often as possiable. The owner, Heidi, is so friendly and helpful along with being so happy every time I go there. You can tell she really enjoys what she is doing. Since finding out about Meat, it has become my only stop for my pets toys and food.

By far the best pet supply store I've ever visited. Meat stocks only the highest quality food, treats, toys -- even the kitty litter is specifically selected to be environmentally friendly and safe. The owner is knowledgeable, helpful, and her dedication to providing the best options for pet nutrition and care are evident the minute you walk in the door. Prices are very reasonable -- I found toys that were actually cheaper here than at large chain stores --, the selection is great, and the shop is spotlessly clean and well-organized. The clincher, though, was my dogs' reaction to the dried liver treats I picked up the last time I was in. 100% natural, no additives or preservatives, and I've never seen them so excited over anything I've brought home. Absolutely worth the extra trip.

Meat is a new pet store in Portland (on Burnside across from Ole Ole). You'll notice it from the outside by a big steak painted on the front door. When you walk in you're greeted by a friendly, young lady named Heidi. She is so friendly and personable that even if you don't know anything about healthy pet food, she will help you find something that will make your pet happy. It's like shopping at New Seasons, but all for your pet! My cats favorite are the Sea Twists treats. They're dried sardines! I've started her on the raw food diet, and she loves it! I highly reccomend this store. If you're in the area, stop by and check it out.
