Way back before Flux was born, Tate's mad styling skills kept me following him to salons across P-town. When Flux became a permanent site for Tate, I knew my days of traveling far and near were over: I could count on finding him at the same location (Bless you, Tate!!). Flux is the BEST.

Tate and crew are pros. They stay on the edge of their industry and always put thought into their work. They are friendly and the salon is always a happy place to be.

After reading the reviews for this salon, I thought I would give it a try. It was well worth it! In February I saw Justin, who really had some great ideas for my hair. She took the time to listen to what I wanted to do with it and gave me some great advice. I can not recommend this salon enough! It's easy to get to and the staff is very friendly! I feel the prices are very fair for the service you receive. Best of all- they do not try to pawn off a bunch of product on you before you leave. They are very down to earth. Great place!!!

Pros: The staff is very skilled. Warm, and friendly atmosphere. No pressure to purchase product.

I was looking for a new male hair stylist. Looked up a bunch of reviews and Flux is where I ended up. I was very impressed when I walked in and noticed that the salon wasn't overloaded with a bunch of girly stuff. It was a very upscaled, down to earth salon. I made an appointment with the salon owner, Tate'. I had 11 inches cut off and donated to Locks of Love, which was told the salon participated in. Tate was attentive and me me feel very comfortable. I noticed that he didn't push a bunch of product on me and used very little when styling my hair. I walked out looking and feeling like a star! I went home and was easily able to replicate the style myself. I really can not say enough good things about Flux Salon. The only problem that someone might have is that they are so busy that they recommend making an appointment 3-4 weeks prior. Want to thank Tate' for such a great experience. I won't be going anywhere else.

Pros: Great Stylists.

Mark came highly recommended as a trained (as in several years in London as an apprentice) stylist - and he does a superb job. Have your style in mind and be specific. Bring a pic of what you want. My hair finally is back in the right cut after several years of being frustrated with stylists not listening. The salon is funky industrial decor. Minimalist. And, wonder of wonders, Mark is actually interesting to chat with! My understanding is that the others who work there also perform up to hopes (beyond expectations, for many of us). The only problem is that it may take weeks to get an appointment.

Pros: Best haircut I've had in 10 years!

Cons: Time to book an appt

I've been living in portland for about a year. I've been to several hair salons, and have had a few hairstylists work on my hair. Hands down Flux is the best salon in portland. The staff is so friendly and the stores atmosphere is incredible, let alone looks awesome too. Justin was the hairstylist who did my hair. I've gone there twice and both times my hair was phenomenal looking. Its obvious that not only is Justin is a talented hairstylist but shes professional and listens and knows extactly what your looking for. Shes an experienced, skilled, and a excellent hairstylist. So if you're looking for the best portland has to offer , I highly suggest going to Flux Salon and would ask for Justin. The Salon is great and so is Justin.

I've been with Flux Salon owner Tate (pronounced tah-tay) O'Shaughnessy for going on 10 years now because when you find a good thing you don't let it go. There are many more long- time patrons like me and I'm sure they're all just as happy for him as I am that he has his own salon now --but he always has room for new friends! Tate, his staff, the atmosphere, are all a bright spot in my day. If I know what I want he can execute it to perfection, when I'm up for a surprise he never disappoints. If you're adventuresome at all, he can put some fun in your life with funky, or quirky, and/or awesome color. If you've an interview for a six figure job with a Fortune 500 he can make you look like you deserve the dough. Tate does it all, and has, for me. Mostly because he listens (very important), and has the skills, not to mention a charming chairside manner. Thank you for my cute self today Tate, best to you and the friendly folks who share your space daily.

Pros: fun friendly ambiance, great products, skilled technicians

I was originally referred to Justin by a coworker. When I made my appointment she was helpful and got back to me quickly. I found that her customer service was impeccable from the beginning. When I got to the salon the entire staff was professional and happy, and I loved the ambiance. Justin made me feel like I was at home the minute I walked in. I am very particular with my hair and change its style often. She did an exceptional job and paid close attention to detail all while making me smile. The first time I left the salon I had to show off my new do! Everyone loved it! I have gone back many times, changing the color, etc. and she never fails to amaze me. I will be a life long customer with Justin and highly recommend her to ANYONE.

flux has a mellow atmosphere, and everyone there was very nice. melody did a great job with my difficult hair, and on top of all that, it's very affordable.
