Sweet sweets and Good Coffee
by comboburrito at Citysearch
My favorite coffee shop in Portland! Try the California Cookie. I'm a straight up house drip drinker and they're always roatating Kenya to an Ethopian to Lima to whatever, I appreciate that. The staff is always very nice too!
- Pros: Outdoor seating, Yummy treats
- Cons: Long lines early on the weekends
consistently good neighborhood kind of place
by coffeesnobista at Citysearch
The coffee here is french pressed - strong and fresh and always hot. The baked goods are made every day. Some of these reviews say the staff has attitude. I am a regular here and they are always super friendly - its a neighborhood kind of place. If anyone is rude its the customers at times. Get over it. They aren't perfect, and they will refund your money if you're not happy, so just tell them instead of posting your negative thoughts on here. Or at least leave contact info. I'm sure they wouldn't snake anyone out of a tip Vanloon.
Where else can you find hand crafted baked goods and hand crafted coffee under one roof in this city? Most bakery coffee misses the mark. Kudos to Crema for being good at both.
- Pros: free wi-fi, latte art on every drink
- Cons: closes early, sometimes people let their kids run free
Excellent pastries made fresh daily on site.

This was a great find. While visiting in Portland for a week I spent every morning checking my email at Crema. Once I spent 6 hours straight there editing some Photoshop files on my laptop and enjoying the scrumptious breakfast and luncheon treats. I found the staff friendly and attentive. Really enjoy the open windows on a sunny warm summer day.
- Pros: Occasionally there are long lines for food and drinks. It's worth the wait.
- Cons: Sunny bright and open space with great food and free wifi. People friendly place.
Rude waiters
by victoria_ at Citysearch
This place was recommended to me by Criollo (before they closed). The counterpeople just ignored me while they finished their conversation with each other. There was hardly anyone in the place so it's not like they were busy. I also noticed flies sitting on the croissants - yes. I mentioned to them that it would be a good idea to get some covers for their food. I walked out.
- Pros: I wonder if the owners know.
- Cons: Rudeness, sketchy health code observance
Latte Leaves
by j_mwilson at Citysearch
This place is great. Some say the staff is rude, but I've seen some of the people that come in there and they are so dumb or so stuck up that I would be pissed to see them there too. I've never had a problem with the wyfi and if it doesn't work then it's not like im losing money. I have always had friendly service with pretty leaves in the foam of my latte. Which shows the lengths they go to, to make each cup of coffee personal. I go here all the time because of the windows. And the food is always so great! Most of the people working there know me by now and they have always been very nice even though I work for a competing coffee shop. If you need a place to relax and enjoy the Portland atmosphere this is the place to go.
Gorgeous and delicious.

Crema is a beautiful, warehouse-like coffee shop and bakery featuring delicious Stumptown espresso and french press coffee. The baked goods? Outstanding.
- Pros: The Space, The Coffee, The Scones
- Cons: Gets Crowded, Can Be Loud, Can Wait for Drinks
why do I feel so uncool?
by curtis_mayfield at Citysearch
some of the staff here are pissed that they didn't make it as banana republic salespeople, and the emerging clientele is similar. it's gotten popular, so it gets packed with trendoids and permissive parents of toddlers who need ritalin.
it can be hard to find a seat, and people are kind of prickish about it - putting their stuff down and then going to order, when there are no other seats available.
okay they do have wi-fi, but that is also on the fritz frequently.
it is a nice space with lots of light, but the hassle is not conducive to a nice cup of coffee.
Fresh out of the oven bakery!

Not only does this place have great Stumptown Coffee but they truly are a bakery...everything is baked/made onsite.
The banana/chocolate bread is so rich! And you gotta try their panini sandwiches for lunch.
Cool building with good looking customers and hip locals. Should we tell others how cool this place really is?
- Pros: Huge Selection, Tons of seating, Easy Parking
- Cons: Close @ 6pm
