I've eaten at Super Dog several times and I completely agree with all the great reviews. But for some reason, I have never ordered the soups - even though there's a big sign that says "Made from Scratch Soups". I went in there last Friday – as I looked around I noticed almost everyone was eating soup or at least had a cup of soup along with their hotdog. So, I decided to order a cup with my dog. OH MY GOD!!!!! Someone obviously paid attention in soup making class! It was truly the best soup I've ever had. I've been back almost every day so I could try the others.
Pros: Fantastic Hot Dog Buns - Killer Soups!

4 of us decided to go downtown this Saturday. We decided to try Super Dogs. I tried the Sun Dried Tomato Chicken Dog - YUMMY! My husband had a Brat Super Dog Special, my daughter had a spicy hot dog with chili and her boyfriend had a chili-slaw dog (Staff's choices-on the chalkboard). We were thrilled that all this food along with 2 beers & 2 soft drinks cost less than $32.00!!! All of us totally enjoyed our dogs and loved the many different mustards offered along with other delicious condiments (I especially liked the sauerkraut that was heated to a perfect temperature and I could put as much as I wanted on my dog). The rolls were incredibly tasty. This restaurant is GREAT! If I could give it 10 stars, I would!
Pros: Great service, delicious food, super ambiance
Cons: We couldn't try all the dogs - we were full!!!!

3 friends and I went to Superdog for lunch yesterday. One of my friends had been raving about their chili cheese dog for a solid week. He insisted that it was the proverbial "bomb". Upon entering Superdog we were greated by the kind owner who was helpful in explaining the menu and hot dog options. Superdog's menu is a a creative mix of traditional dog styles (Chicago) using the legendary Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs to PDX/NW products like Zenner's tasty dogs, Tillamook cheese, etc. Despite the impressive menu I had really come for the chili cheese dogs and that's what I went with. I chose wisely as it was not only the best chili dog I've had in Portland, but the one of the best lunches period. My chili dog was delivered to our table approximately 5 minutes after I ordered it and I headed straight for the condiment table which contained diced onions, green relish, chopped pepperoncini and diced jalapenos. Most impressive was the mustard collection featuring at least 5 kinds of mustard (yellow, stone ground, spicey brown, dijon, honey, etc) as well as the huge crock full of, what else?, warm sauerkraut. Mmmm sauerkraut. With my dog properly topped I returned to the table and my friends to begin eating. I took a minute to study the amazing hot dog in front of me- a bun that was warm, not too doughy, soft yet strong enough to hold the massive hot dog. (Yes, the buns really are as good as people say) The hot dog was smothered with steaming chili with little shards of cheddar cheese peeking out from beneath the mountain of chili. It was the perfect portion of chili, covering the dog and transforming it into a Superdog. It was pure chili dog bliss., bute after bite. The only fuss I had was "hands technique" or "fork n knife method"? Fork. As a bonus, (for now, anyway) if you order a Superdog on Monday you get a free Superdog tshirt. $3.75, freaking amazing chili dog and a free tshirt. Go for it. It's really that good. I'm giving Superdog a 10.
Pros: Great value, Local biz supporting other local vendors, not fussy; perfect for old school dog freaks or cheating Boca dog dorks
Cons: Parking downtown

Watched Rachel Ray's Tasty Travel before heading out to Portland, and saw SuperDog at the end of the show. I decided to give it a try, and BAM - what a tasty sausage! The buns are exceptional also. For $3.75, you cannot beat the price. The only drawback was there are too many choices, I guess it is a good problem to have.
Pros: great price, top quality, great service
Cons: too many choices, I want to try them all but don't have the time!

Search for farmer's market on citisearch, and found SuperDog instead. So the whole family decided to give it a try, especially if you have a bunch of little ones (4) like we do. They are always hungry, and will definitely eat hot dogs. The waitress there should audition for "Suepernanny" since she takes such good care of our kids. The dogs are FANTASTIC, and cheap too. For under $30, the family was fed, drinks and BEER included. I don't think I can even do that at McDonalds.
Pros: price, quality, service

I am new to PSU, and this is my first term. Always look out for a great place to hang out and eat. SuperDog IS IT! They have a whole buch of chicken dogs which I've never seen anywhere else. I was skeptical but thought I should try it once. It is not as big as the other dogs, which works for me cause I have to watch my figure. What a GREAT tasting sausage. The bun is out of this world. Very clean place also. The condiment bar is always neat and filled. Can't wait to go back and have another one.
Pros: cheap, high quality, nice place
Cons: too many choices, chick dog not as big

I stumbled upon SuperDog as I was leaving Saturday Market, and found my next favorite hangout! Wonderful dogs (I love Brat's!), great service, and a warm and friendly environment (I especially love the football games on TV). Prices are great, and the sausgages are fresh and tasty. The buns are the best I've had - the owner says they're fresh from a local bakery. I haven't tried all the styles, but they have my favorites - Coney and Chicago. They even have a style for Portland - dog is local, cooked in a local microbeer, and with Tillamook cheese if you want! Very creative! I love this place! Highly recommended.

I was visiting PSU last Friday, and the sign "Chicago Dog Special, congras White Sox!" caught my eye. So I thought, what the heck, just give it a try. It is true that they do not have the poppy seed bun and Vienna Beef, and the local bread and Nathans that they use is just as tasty. All the other toppings- bright green relish, sport peppers, dill pickles and tomato is right on! It was cheap too, only $3.00 on special. They have 7 different type of sausages to choose from for the other dog, I am definitely going back to try their other stuff. They play great music too, jazz and blues all the time, not some angry rock or rap that drives me nuts.
Pros: great value, many choices, great music

Went in there with my kids after Farmer's market. Their dogs are fantastic - so many sausages and so little time. They have a Nathan's hot dog which my kids just love. The condiments station is well taken care of - always well stocked and clean, not like other hot dog place where condiments always run low, and messy. I had their Brat, and it was just like what I remembered in the Mid. West. My kids had the Chili Cheese Dog with Nathans, the bun holds up to the Chili, and it was suprisingly not messy. Great place to catch a little bit of football also since they have a nice flat TV. BTW: the chili cheese dog was only $3.5, and the superdog with Brat was only $3.75. Comparing to other dog places around downtown which charges $5.00 for a hot dog, this is a GREAT deal!
Pros: Good Value, Great Sausage Variety, Very tasty
Cons: To many choices, not enough time
