Worst hair cutting experience ever.

Really.

On the not so bad side, my stylist was pleasant enough, and the haircut was OK. I've paid more than what Chopperz charges and don't mind if the experience is worth it. But this wasn't even close.

The kid behind the counter was a complete meathead with a horrible attitude, both on the phone and in person. He kept screwing up and couldn't care less. I'd much rather deal with the mindless indifference you run into at cheap chop shops than this pretense at service.

My first and last time here. You can buy yourself and your buds a round somewhere fun with what you'll save by not going here.

Marco, get a reign on your evening help!

I don't normally write reviews, but I had to give a shout out to the Chopperz crew for an incredible job well done for our wedding party this weekend. Like any normal man, I waited until the last minute to get things set up. Marco worked his tail off to get us scheduled at the last minute. The girls at Chopperz gave me and my friends haircuts and shaves that my wedding party raved about all night at the rehearsal dinner. That was the best experience I have ever had in a "salon" or barbershop. Thank you!

Bad Cut

Cut was uneven. There parts that were thin and parts that were thick. Had to go to another hairstylist to get it fixed and evened out. Will never go back.

Great, Fast Shave!

I came into Chopperz at 2:00 on saturday and was out by 2:15 with exactly what I wanted. The price was fair at $10 (it took me that much gas to drive out here) and the staff was very personable. I'll be back!

• Pros: Good Service, Quick, Free Beer!

Best Service Ever?

Friendly and professional staff. Really relaxing atmosphere, and nice selection of micros and at $2 a drink how can you beat that? I got a straight razor shave (for the first time), it was amazing. I have sensitive skin, and it was better and nicer shave than any multi blade out there. I recommend Chopperz to any guy looking to be taken care of, but not wanting to get a pedicure.

So different (in a good way), it's hard to describe

My friends and I had our wedding day preparation done at Chopperz. Our haircuts and shaves were fantastic, the atmosphere and beer were cool, but everyone in our group really commented on how the guys/gals at Chopperz bent over backwards to make sure that everything was on point. Even after we had haircuts, the owner and a couple of the employees just hung out and BS with us. As a previous reviewer said, the microbrew selection here tops many bars I have been to. In fact, Chopperz has one of the best hefs (I think they brew their own) I have tasted. We came for the novelty of beer and a haircut, but I will comeback for the personal service and the chance to hangout with these guys. Portland is lucky to have a salon (sorry, non salon) like Chopperz.

• Pros: Customer Service is better than a 5 star restaurant. Great Wedding Party idea.
• Cons: I cannot say anything bad about Chopperz

A new place for me to get cleaned up.

This place gives off a relaxing, but unstuffy vibe. They people who took care of me obviously have had alot of training in customer service, because everyone really went out of their way to see if I needed anything (3 different people ask me if I wanted a drink, when they noticed I didn't have anything in my hands). The employees seem to really like it there and it shows in how they treated me and the folks around me. My haircut was awesome (the wife likes it, which is what matters) and the the scalp and neck rubdown were sublime.

• Pros: genuine customer service and neck rubs
• Cons: a little noisy, but I think that is part of their "feel"

Loyalty does not pay

This place is like going to the doctor's office. You are overcharged for the services, you have to schedule your appointments in advance and then you show up and wait for them to see you but if you ever happen to be 8 mins late, they will refuse to see you. I went to HAIR M instead where there focus is more on retaining customers. I will be sure to pass on the word that this place is not worth patronizing. You definitely do get the "NON SALON" service here.

• Pros: If getting overcharged is your thing....
• Cons: Poor service

Finally A Straight Razor Shave

I have searched high and low in Portland for someone who knows what they are doing with a straight razor and I was a little aprehensive about a girl shaving me. But she immediately let me know that she knew what she was doing. She first asked if I had any sensitive areas (under the neck big time), so she could help with the irritation. Then came the towels, and the oils, and more towels, and lotions, and towels, and creams, the massage, and more towels. I had no idea that the shave was going to be this involved, but I loved it. If you are a workaholic (guilty as charged), then you need to treat yourself to Choppers straight razor shave.

• Pros: An incredibly close straight razor shave
• Cons: A little too pricey to have done more than a couple times a month (for me at least)
