See the show, don't order food
by theaterreviewer
My wife and I wen't to the 12:30 Sat matinee show and paid $24, for two tickets. I guess this is OK, but should have been lower for a matinee show. By the end of the show, I had ordered 2 hamburgers, 2 glasses of wine and 1 cup of tea, for a grand total (including tickets) of $83.59, $59.59 for food and drink only. I am later thinking to myself that I could have gone to some of Portlands finer reastaurants and paid this, for possibly a nice steak dinner and drinks, with great service. I guess I could understand this someone is on a first date and is trying to impress their significant other, with their hard earned money. I absolutely do not have a problem spending for fine food and drinks, but not $60 for a couple of hamburgers and 2 glasses of wine. Not for me again!
- Pros: seating, screens
- Cons: expensive food
Why go anywhere else?
by Lulu61
The first movie I saw at Cinetopia was Finding Nemo. Every movie looks good at Cinetopia. The chairs are amazingly comfortable and there's a ton of leg room so you don't have to move when people need to get by which is nice. And if you're tall like me (over 5'10"), the extra leg room is a major plus. The sound quality is amazing as is the picture. I saw a movie at a different theater and there is a HUGE difference.
- Pros: Everything!
- Cons: Ticket prices(but thats every theater)
Cinetopia: More than just movies
by lmcaudle
Cinetopia has proven to be more than just a movie-watching experience. Upon entrance into the venue, visitors immediately feel a vibe that there's something different about the place.
And there is.
The seating is comfortable and the screen is vast, aiding in the overall enjoyable experience of Cinetopia. The menu offers a plethora of options from which to choose, appealing to various palates. And if you're in the mood for good conversation and libations, the wine list is extensive and there's even a chance to be daring and try some of the wines before purchasing a full glass or bottle.
I would highly recommend a visit to Cinetopia if you're ever in the area. And if you're not in the area, I'd suggest making a special trip to the location. You won't regret it.
- Pros: Wine, comfortable seating, great menu selection
- Cons: None
Every Other Theater Falls Short
by kbjennings
I recently relocated to Portland, Oregon from Nashville, Tennessee for a job and my very first weekend in town a co-worker took me out to Cinetopia. As a person who often attends movie theaters, I was so impressed with the overall experience and the attention to detail. I could tell someone cared about giving me an experience that would surpass every place I've visited prior.
The wine bar is amazing. The opportunity to get wine by the ounce allowed me to sample many wines and develop personal favorites as opposed to committing to one type and potentially being disappointed.
The living room theater accomplished its goal by providing a level of comfort that actually rivals being home with an excellent audio/visual experience.
Lastly, as a musician, it brought me great joy to see and listen to a live pianist playing jazz. 1) The pianist sounded great. 2) It set a mood that allowed me to enjoy my wine while waiting for my show time.
At the conclusion of my first visit, I was so excited that I literally called my girlfriend and family back home, and let each them know that I've visited a theater that's revolutionizing the commercial theater experience. I've vowed to take each friend or family member that visits me.
I recommend you give Cinetopia try, and be forever disappointed with every other theater. You won't regret it!
- Pros: The wine bar, living room theater & live pianist are great.
- Cons: None
What Dinner & A Movie Was Meant To Be!
by Blythe
I enjoyed the high end atmosphere and service. The wine was exquisite and then a snuggle with my husband in the spacious leather seating during the movie fit the bill. Small price to pay for such a grand experience!
- Pros: Luxury at it's finest!
- Cons: N/A
See a movie in style!

My friend and I saw a movie in the Living Room theater and were very pleasantly surprised by the comfy leather chairs and the ottomans that you can put your feet up on! There aren't alot of seats in the Living Room theater, so get there early - but it's well worth it - the servers serve dinner to you right there in your seat - what a treat! I'm a stay-at-home mom, so it was really nice to put my feet up and have someone wait on me for a change! Cinetopia is a great place to spend a night out!
- Pros: Everything! Comfortable seats, relaxing setting
- Cons: None that I can think of
We will never see a movie anyplace else
by StephC
My husband and I have been going to Cinetopia for almost 2 years now, and every time we go we remember why we enjoy going there to watch movies. The living room theaters are amazing, we love being able to split a pitcher of beer, eat some great food, and put our feet up. The customer service is always wonderful and did I mention that the food is great, we have never had a bad meal there, I had the potroast last night and it was amazing!! It's like watching a movie in our own home, but way better, because the picture and sound quality are perfect, and the food is much better than what I cook at home. We love Cinetopia and swear that we will never see a movie anyplace else!!!
- Pros: Best movie theater ever and wonderful food
- Cons: There are absolutely no cons
Great picture, Horriable sound
by JasonJohnson183
I came to Cinetopia for Star Trek this weekend in the living room theater. Very Comfy. The Service was outstanding. The Food was good. Prices a little high, but pretty much what I was expecting for a burger when popcorn costs close to $8.00. Picture was perfect, the sound on the other hand was not!!! IT WAS LOUD! So loud in fact that I had to leave the comfort of my seat to go out to the lobby so my ears would stop ringing. I decided at that point since I was already missing my movie I would sit at the bar and have a beer. And all I could hear were the obnoxiously loud lobby previews. Is everyone that works in this building deaf??? They must be if they cant notice how loud it is. The last straw was before I re-entered my movie I used the restrooms and the music (or at least thats what they must think it is) was so loud for the little room it was shrill! And I noticed that I had been there for about an hour and a half and had heard all the same music when I was standing in a long line earlier. I then decided to go back and finish my movie. Movie picture once again was great but the volume was so high I just could not enjoy it. I will have to go and watch it again at another theater and listen to it and try to remeber how it looked at cinetopia. Unless you like hideously noisy situations dont waste the money on cinetopia!
- Pros: Comfy Seats
- Cons: NOISE, NOISE, NOISE
Regal who?
by PDXCHICK
Cinetopia is the best. It's a little spendy, $15 for living room seating, but well worth the money. The seats are roomy, leather, with ottomans. You can eat dinner and drink wine or beer in these theaters. They have musicians in there playing on some nights. Once you go here it is hard to go to a normal theater! The only downfall, they can get really busy, especially on opening weekends and I have been often an hour or earlier before the movie started and it's already sold out. I have since learned my lesson and bought online. Though if you do that, you still need to get there early to get a decent seat. Also, the food is a little high priced then I am comfortable with, for the amount that you get. Popcorn is delish though, they even have a butter bar with different flavors. WORTH IT!
- Pros: Comfortable
- Cons: Sometimes Busy
1 Star for High Quality Theater Experience. Nothing Else.
by kylencody
Yeah, high quality picture. Followed up with a staff that have clearly convinced themselves that ignoring customers, complete absence of smiles or eye contact, over priced food, over priced drinks, and (surprise) a dining room completely devoid of any paying customers, married with tacky wall art equals a great evening in the Couve. Come on guys, you are not what you try to pull off. We will not waste our time at that place again.
- Pros: Amazing Picture Quality
- Cons: Everything else.
