Let's face it...when a restaurant last less than a year or 2 it's probably terrible. The price was downtown pricey but the taste was downtown gutter. This is another restaurant that failed because of its quality. The people have spoken...buh bye NV House.

Pros: Plenty of parking

Cons: Bad food...thus plenty of parking

We decided to try the NV House after driving past it for a couple of months now. Took my very special lady with me trying to impress her... HOWEVER, the impression quickly turned to well there is another place to cross off our list. The food was lackluster in quality and flavor. The décor was more along the lines of a poor man’s Shari’s, but the prices were upscale NW 23 rd. Not sure where the food in the other reviews was, because our menu did not even have those choices. Once we were seated, the service was prompt, and the coloring on the paper table cloths was a heap of fun. One last comment to the chef, turn off the kitchen radio and put in a stellar sound system for the pleasure of the diners.

Pros: Close to home, draw on paper table cloths

Cons: Food quality does not match prices

My husband and I decided finally to try the NV House in Tigard after driving by its totally packed parking lot for the umpteenth Friday in a row. It was a whim that was worth whimming, if that is such a thing. Although it took a few minutes to get seated, Nancy, our waittress was prompt and curteous and greeted us with a few minutes of us opening our menus. And the menus! So much to choose from that it took her a few trips back to the table before we finally decided on our selections~my husband had the stuffed halibut and I the prawn sauteé. Everything was fabulous! The room was cozy, the atmosphere friendly and the other tables seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. The food was so good we didn't even want to ruin it with dessert! But we will be back with bigger appetites and friends. Thanks Joe, Nancy, Scott & Paul for a really superb night! The "City" of BullMountain Thanks you too!

Pros: Tons of parking, great comfort food, easy atmosphere

Cons: Servers need more wine knowledge for appropriate accompaniments

I spent the weekend of the 22nd in the Portland area and some friends and I decided to try the NV House. I was acquainted with the owner, Joe, from previous restaurants and had always been impressed in the past. It was unfortunate to read a couple of the bad reviews, which thankfully I never take too seriously. Instead I trusted my instincts and gave it a try for dinner that Friday night. I order the stuffed halibut which was awsome. The service was wonderful, the wine was wonderful, as well as the dessert and port. We loved it so much, we all went back the next morning for breakfast. The smoked salmon eggs benedict & bloody mary were to die for. Obviously all restaurants can have a bad nights for a variety of reasons. I would hope that the writers of the "not so great" review would realize this and give it another chance. I'd recommend NV House to anyone! I wish Joe lots of luck with his place!!!

I was in Portland for the first time. This was my first dinning adventure in Portland. The front desk of the hotel referred me to the NV House. Since it was close, I stopped in. I wasn't expecting much, to be honest. Especially being such a food snob. I was pleasantly surprised, however with my steak. Overall, the restaurant was great. The atmosphere was nice and I was waited on promptly. The owner, who was very knowledgeable in wines gave me a short, informative tutorial on local wineries. He paired up a few glasses of different wines to go nicely with my appetizer and a different wine for my entree. The tiramisu was delicious as well. A nice finish to a good meal. Port and all. A great find in the middle of strip-mall dining.

My friends and I decided to stop in on our way home from work. I had been there for lunch with co-workers before and really enjoyed the experience. The wine selection was very full and the girls who had cocktails thought they were very tasty and that they were potent. The appetizers were fun and really different. Not just your normal bar food. My friend even had oysters. Very cool vibe in the restaurant. Kind of upper class without being too stuffy.

Pros: Large wine list, great appetizers, great seafood and steaks. Mixed drinks were great.

I don't usually write bad reviews, but I will make an exception now. We were very exccited to have a new restaurant in Tigard. The first time I went it was by myself. The fish was good, veggies gross. Service was fine then. Second and third time, service sucked. Food wasn't that great either. I hope the owner gets it together, am willing to give it another try if they do.

Pros: close to home

Cons: lots

Just reread the one Posted by audrina000 on 08/28/2006 It says it all. Our visit was identical. Terrible service, terrible food. The three tables of people who actually stayed there to eat were commenting back and forth about the food they got and what was promised by the reviews. People left because they got no service within 15 minutes. They were the smart ones! Don't go there.

Pros: easy parking

Cons: everything else about the place. We even had to beg to get a check to get out of there.

I was looking online for a GOOD steak house in the Portland area, and was totally surprised to see the NV house listed...and with such a high rating. A couple of months ago, I went out for a nice adult evening with some friends to eat there and I have to say I had the worst overall experience I have had out in a long time. First of all, there were 3 tables filled and we were completely ignored for about 15 minutes. Then, they took our orders (most of the things on the menu they were 'out' of) and once we got our wine, we were ignored for another half hour before we got our salads--very disappointing bagged greens. Our appetizers came halfway through the dinner ("prawns" which were actually tiny shrimp swimming in oil) and our dinners were highly overpriced for their average taste. Whenever our server did deliver something, she would drop it and run before we could ask for anything else. While we waited, we watched two groups come in, be seated, and then leave before they ordered after waiting too long. Over all, average food, high prices and horrible service. I wish I were exaggerating, but our "fun night out" was a grueling 2 and a half hour waiting game without even the payoff of good food in the end.

Pros: Good wine

Cons: Long wait for no reason, average food, apathetic staff
