Be Prepared for intensity and results
by QueenOfLunges
David is a great trainer, but you need to be serious and committed to work with him. He can be a motivator to a certain extent, but in the end you have to be ready to work hard with him. I think a person finds out how committed they are when challenged, and you will be challenged. He pushes beyond what you think you can do. It feels great to have done stuff you never thought you could do.
Best Personal Trainer in Portland

I am a soccer player 24/7 trying to get in even better shape as I prepare for my college career. David provides well planned and personal workouts that work muscles I didn't even know I have. He can work on overall fitness, as well as, target specific areas you want to work on. He is motivating, yet tough, and will push you to always give 100%. He not only gets you into a better physical shape through his workouts, but he also works on teaching you about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle. He provides a fun and friendly atmosphere and does everything he can to help you achieve your goals. David focuses on you and what you want out of your body. He provides me with many different high intensity workouts that never get old. Also, he focuses on helping me to prevent injuries and has helped heal any injuries I've dealt with. He has fully prepared me for my for my division one soccer career in fitness, nutrition, and mind. I would highly recommend him for any athlete, as well as, anyone who wants a more fit body and lifestyle.
The BEST out there!

I'm a new client of Dave's and I gotta tell you , this guy knows what he's doing. He trains me twice a week as my busy schedule lets me and I look forward to every single session. I do have my days where it is hard for me to get up and be motivated but as soon as I start my warm up with David I realize that it is only for the best. So far I have lost 10 lbs and we just started, I'm excited to see our final results. He is a great trainer and most of all a GREAT person One more great benefit is that Dave will work around YOUR schedule, which is very important for me as well as it will for you!
- Pros: motivated, honest, patient
- Cons: none
A trainer with answers to your questions...
by zline
My training experience with with David and his associates can be described with one word... "Successful!" After years of no results, lack of motivation, not knowing what my body was capable of, and not understanding the realities of weight loss and muscle toning, I finally got my questions answered! Just so all of you out there understand where I'm coming from, I was a guy who worked in an office too many hours, ate out at too many business lunches, went home tired and unhappy with my body, and had no energy to go a gym where nothing was happening. I needed answers! I needed help!
The answers I got at Wayne Personal Training are the "Real Deal." There was no cheesy sales pitch, no harrassment to bulk up on supplements, and no BS. I was given an honest evaluation which included a structural and biomechanical assessment, nutritional consultation, flexibility and cardiovascular tests, and all this before I had the "realities of weight loss" talk. This opened my eyes to what was really happening and after I decided that this was all true, I was held to it for my entire training experience! This program has a money back guarantee (if you use it) and it will challenge you past the point of expectation while giving you more that you thought was possible.
I am now in the best shape of my life and have lost 73 lbs.! I can run again! I can play with my kids as long as I want! All this from a tough trainer who held me to my convictions. I have good days and bad days, but I was reminded that showing up on the bad ones are the most important for my success. Anyone can do it when they feel good. I believed in a trainer who believed in me and I didn't want to let him down. That accountability to show up when I wouldn't have otherwise is worth it alone.
That is start to my success story which lives on today. It was a tough road, and the training was tough, but I found the answers I needed from a trainer who knows. Thanks David!
- Pros: Superior trainers, real answers, no BS, lost 73lbs!
- Cons: Facing tough answers and training

I'm not as impressed with David Wayne as the other reviewers are. He's got a lot of charisma and he knows how to operate. He's a good trainer, too, but I doubt he's 'the best in Portland'. I found sessions with him to be inconsistent, depending on his mood. He really likes working with wealthy people, and I think he probably does his best work with them.
Go for someone less high profile. You'll probably get better workouts and won't have to pay a ridiculous amount for them.
Best trainer on the face of the Earth !!!!
by kathieberger
Just over a year ago, I decided I had enough with being very overweight and out of shape. I knew that I needed the help of a professional who would motivate me and help me get the results I needed. In the past, I would try to work out on my own, but would end up getting injured, getting bored and tired of working hard with no results. David was the first and only trainer that I interviewed, even though I had appointments to meet with three others. He impressed me with his knowledge, but he was also funny, personable and intelligent. A year later, I have lost 100 lbs. and I have gained in confidence, self-esteem and, most amazingly, muscles!!!! David has made the whole process challenging and fun. He always knows exactly how much I can do and pushes me to do more than I think I can do. And he is always right ! Deciding to work with David to get my life back was one of the best decisions I have ever made. He knows what he is doing and he is good at it, which is, after all, the point. Now I feel as though I have the world waiting for me, and I am excited to try everything. And I know that I can do anything I want to do. What more can anyone want from a trainer?
- Pros: great trainer, great person
- Cons: none
Believe it and believe in you

I interviewed with David because he had the background to deal with my current injury. I hired him because he had the guts to stand up to my ego and attitude in that interview. He continues to hold his own against this sometimes hard-headed client. His first job was to help me overcome my chronic hamstring injury and get back to my old self. This is not an easy task since part of that job meant slowing me down but together we did it. I learned a lot in working with him for that first phase and just 2 weeks ago I ran a 16 mile fun run!
But the job does not stop there. Next objective is to gain muscle and teach this girl to lift. Yeah, that's what I said, and that is what he is doing. This is a big direction switch and to make it those 16-mile jogs are put on hold for awhile. Now David is taking the "scary" out of the plates, and squat racks and oly bars and teaching me things like squat form and dead lift form. With this sort of sport form is everything and with him by my side I can focus on form and not worry about getting hurt. I also know that he is looking out for me and that the weight I am using is okay.
In all fitness sports it is also important to push to the limit and with David's encouragement and an occasional physical help up I push harder than I could ever push myself. This gives me more confidence and makes me stronger than I cold ever do on a self-learning program. Today I am no longer intimidated to enter the free weight area of the gym and I get very deeply now why hiring a personal trainer is such an important thing to do. It isn't a cheap way to go but in the long run David's work pays over and over again his salary.
Two thumbs up and looking forward to where this journey takes me!
RESULTS, RESULTS, RESULTS!
by eansboury
As a (relatively) young career-driven professional, physical activity had started to take a backseat to vegging in front of the TV with a few glasses of wine after a long work day. I found myself increasingly depressed with my state of mind and appearance. Being a former marathon runner and lifelong athlete, it was unusual for me to find myself in a way I would most definitely refer to as "out of shape." At 10-15 lbs above my target weight and 2-3% body fat over my ideal, I decided to get serious about six weeks ago.
I found David on Citysearch and was encouraged by the user reviews I read as well as his professional and educational background. After an introductory meeting I started twice weekly workouts tailored to my goals of fat loss and toning. I can honestly say this is the best personal training experience I've ever had and I am thrilled with the results! I've lost about 8 lbs in the first six weeks and have gained an amazing amount of muscle tone. The workouts are never the same - in fact there are only a handful of exercises I've even done more than once! Muscles are appearing out of nowhere and my energy levels and attitude have turned a complete 180! In the past my personal trainers have caved into my whining and put me through exercises geared and their goals for me instead of my own. Dave does neither - he tailors workout plans exactly to meet his clients goals and is acutely aware of what his clients are physically and mentally capable of achieving during a workout. He always pushes to the limit and won't accept no for an answer if he knows his client is capable. In my opinion, this is the skill that separates a good personal trainer from a superior one.
Dave is a fabulous trainer, and you won't go wrong enlisting him as your workout/diet guru. He won't waste your time or his own.
- Pros: Workout variety, background in biomechanics, pushes to the limit!
- Cons: none.
Great Trainer

I've been working with David for 4 months now, and I never thought having my butt kicked would be so enjoyable. He's personable, so you barely notice how much you're sweating while he is distracting you. But don't get me wrong - he will make you work. He personalizes to each client's goal, so the guys ahead of me do totally different stuff than I do ("Different goals," David says). Really, I can already do things I couldn't do when I started with him. Never thought I'd jump rope 600 times--fast! Well worth the investment of time, energy, $, and sweat.
Excellent personal trainer

I recent ly made a personal commitment to attaining better health this year. After doing some research and speaking with one of his clients, I decided to hire David Wayne as my personal trainer. In my first month I've lost a total of 15.25 inches, 12.7 lbs of body fat and gained 3.62 lbs of lean mass. David is personal, funny, encouraging, and most of all really cares about you reaching your personal goals. That is not to say that he is soft. I work hard but I feel confident that I will achieve the goals we outlined.
- Pros: Total thumbs up
- Cons: None
