lots of bars, cozy, good for friends and couples who enjoy taking their time together

by kittykathy

i found this place not long after they opened!

it was all because they had the portland tribune available at the downtown transit center near the hazel dell bus stop.

inside was an article worth reading even now!

i had to go there with a friend, and have been back several trips now.

it is an excellent place to sit and sip warm deep chocolate with a friend or two.

they have a style acceptable to kids, but if you can handle it, try the 4 oz. of the hot pepper spiced hot chocolate with very little milk or sugar!

if you don't like chocolate, don't come.

ps. it can't get any better than this, so like the others i had to give the guys a high 5 stars!

  • Pros: variety, next to Masu sushi, different, not a Hershey in sight!
  • Cons: parking, location is in mid-street, not in my town, not open 24/7/365, not heaven just akin to it

Heaven!

by pdx87

Wow! All I can say is I have never experienced chocolate until now. This place is fantastic! The wide variety of chocolate, in all forms, is top notch. This place carries simply the best quality chocolate from around the world. Kick your candy bars to the curb and indulge in REAL chocolate. I have never really given much thought to chocolate and was a little overwhelmed with the selection at first, but the employees were friendly and very knowledgeable. I'm glad I asked the employee for help. My boyfriend and I were able to taste samples of many of the chocolate bars and it was a really fantastic experience to taste the variety of flavors. Think wine tasting but with chocolate. But the real winner was the drinking chocolate - it was so rich the small size was enough for the two of us! Also, the confections in the case are to die for!

yum yum yum!

  • Pros: Selection, Drinking Chocolate, Knowledgeable Staff, Quality
  • Cons: none

Chocolate Heaven on Earth

by teresaestrada

Run as fast as you can and order the "dark drinking chocolate". It's sheer bliss and I was trying to think of ways to justify ordering a second cup, then it struck me. When it comes to chocolate bliss we don't need justification...just enjoy the fruits of this sweet slice of heaven.

The owners (Aubrey and Jessie) and Josh made my visit a pleasurable learning experience and the gorgeous cafe/boutique is the perfect backdrop for the beautifully wrapped chocolate. This is THE place for Valentine gifts!!!

It's very easy to get there and parking is equally easy so RUN don't walk to this great new addition to our City!!

  • Pros: Easy access and close to Powell's

Chocolate Nirvana

by robinreich

My brother, niece and I stoped in for the first time on a Friday evening and I was so impressed with the presentation of excellent quality chocolates from around the world, and the incredible knowledge that these lovely owners shared with us. I never realized how much there is to choclate, much like a fine wine...oh, yes and the numerous samples with extensive explanations of each chocolate origin fueled my passion for this place. Thank goodness my business takes me often to Portland but I do hope they open one in Seattle. I am in love with this place.

  • Pros: ambience, owners, quality, variety
  • Cons: will strengthen addiction to chocolate
