Just great
by Esrl
We really enjoyed our time there. We usually just make a meal of the appetizers and it was very easy to find something for everybody. The Yam Fries were especially good. And the bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful.
- Pros: Very good take on the food
- Cons: pork egg rolls were slightly over-spiced
Wow...cool vibe, great drinks
by mrb65
I had seen this place next to il Piatto for about a year but never had the opportunity to stop in until last week. This is one of the most unique bars in town, decor-wise. The room is entirely green with shellaced walls and cool lighting. The bar staff was super friendly and the drinks were de-lish. Two thumbs up on Jade Lounge...I'll be back for sure.
Delicious and Fun
by karekare1030
I have had only great experiences at this neighborhood spot -- good food, unusual drinks, really nice staff, and the owners are very friendly and really make you feel welcome. I like it.
- Pros: ambiance, food
- Cons: the DJ was a little loud
Great Happy Hour
by sinster521
Great variety of inexpensive food items to choose from, plus it lasts all night long. We went on a Thursday, what a cool place. Interesting drink menu, lots of house infusions.
The service was very friendly, always a big plus. Loved the decor.
- Pros: Good Food, inexpensive
bad food bad service
by sheeba10
The woman tending bar gave us nothing but attitude all night. The drinks when we got them were good but the food was pretty bland and overpriced. The dj was ok but a lot of the time it droned on and on. Overall, there are way better places to spend an evening.
- Pros: non-smoking inside
- Cons: employee attitude, food, music
Happy Hour
by mrsrae
What better place to go for Happy Hour! Ordered the Salad Rolls, Tempura Vegetables (includes Yams & Beets), Grilled Chicken w/peanut sauce. Yummy and delicious. Drinks: Pear Sake (my favorite).
Atmosphere: Love the decor. Quiet and cozy. A hidden SE location to become known to all of Portland fast!
Pretty Terrible
by apanowicz
Not just disappointing, but actually terrible. The green glow is uncomfortable and annoying, yes, and the DJ is a mild nuiscance with his slightly distorted version of "mixing," but the food came as the great shocker. It's just bad. Springrolls were dry and unappetizing, pad thai was undistinguishable... didn't realize that the Thai used soggy spaghetti noodles in canned peanut sauce... and the "Special" was anything but. Again, I remind you, it wasnt just kind of not good, it was terrible. To top it off, the service was slow. Four of us sat down for dinner, and three were finished before the final dinner plate even arrived. Silverware didn't make it to the table until the food was cold. It was a pretty miserable experience.
I like IlPiatto! What happened? Don't they share a kitchen and a chef? Who in their right mind would let food out of the kitchen as it was?
My diet coke was decent though.
- Pros: In a fun neighborhood
- Cons: Everything else about this place.
This place rocks
by josteve271
This place is my new favorite. The drinks are creative, the staff is super friendly and the food is not only relatively cheap but also real good. Though I have seen another review critiquing the green lighting I find it unique and perfect for an intimate evening. Another great thing is they have DJ's several nights during the week and also several all night happy hours.
Definitely my kind of place.
- Pros: fun atmosphere, good food, friendly staff
Super slow, good food
by ptownreviewer
I tried this place with some friends after seeing mostly good reviews on here. True, the drinks were interesting and good, and the food was great...however, the service was so slow it really wasn't worth the wait. We were there for two hours and felt completely neglected- there was no chance to get a refill on our drinks (until we flagged someone down to ask for the bill), our order was missing an appetizer, and the servers avoided eye contact. It did look like there was one guy doing most of the waitstaff/bartender duty, and he was nice though flustered and spread thin. We won't be going back though, and unless they increase the waitstaff I wouldn't recommend it.
Unique and trendy neighborhood joint
by kranstyns
I walked into Jade Lounge after work, tired and hungry and was delightfully surprised by the general atmosphere. I was seated next to the bar by a friendly and amiable waitress. My usually quick overview of the menu took longer then anticipated because there was such a variety of delicious entrees. I ordered the Jaded Player cocktail and then another one. The unique flavors were like nothing I have ever had before. My meal arrived shortly after placing my order, and was some of the best pan-asian food I have ever had. The decor was sultry and the music - intoxicating. I plan on coming in again very soon.
