Great place to see shows! And just to grab a drink

by LKG123

I actually found the bartenders to be some of the nicest in town. The music was excellent, the cover was very affordable, and the overall vibe was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to see a show in a laid back, chill atmosphere with more than decent acoustics and didn't ever feel over-crowded or too hot like a lot of music venues. My first time going here was last weekend and I love it.

  • Pros: very cool venue and comfortable place to see music

Great Music Venue!

by MWeitzel

The Someday Lounge is a great place to listen to music. Many shows are free and those that aren't are reasonable. In addition the bartenders are friendly and helpful. I haven't tried the food yet; that is on my agenda for my next visit which will be soon!

  • Pros: Great place to listen to music, friendly staff
  • Cons: Bathrooms not well marked

Artistic and Unique Downtown Spot

by MamaHipster

Though I don't get out as much as I used to, I do love to come to this space when I can. I love that there are unique and progressive performance art shows at Someday. I've seen some great theatrical, spoken word and musical performances that you don't see anywhere else in Portland. The cocktails are great, the space is beautiful and I bring out-of-town guests here whenever I want to show off how cool and artistic Portland is.

great happy hour

by aligayter

Went to the Someday Lounge yesterday for happy hour and it was excellent. They have a very cool, interesting space. Definitely unique for Portland and worth checking out. The food and beverage selection was excellent and the staff was friendly. I'm looking forward to checking out more of their shows because the space is intimate and the performers have an opportunity to connect with the audience. Their website is pretty cool too!

  • Pros: the space, music, food/cocktails

Interesting events, great sound, solid drinks.

by hilarius

Someday has become a staple of mine both for happy hour and as a constant consideration when I am looking for something to do downtown. Classical Revolution, Opera Theatre Oregon, Jazz Fridays, and other events are refreshing in the face of so many patterned rock venues. The interior design is inspired and simple, the staff professional and talented. It gives me hope that Portland is still budding with new and adaptive night spots that serve such a diverse clientele without batting an eye. Oh and the food is vegetarian, cheap, and yummy.

I am a beer drinker, not a cocktailer, but they have a few rotating taps that always feature something I like. A friend I met for happy hour didn't comment on her drink but seemed pleased.

  • Pros: Always something interesting happening, great atmosphere
  • Cons: usually a cover after 8 or so.

Great place to play and enjoy music

by rswelling

Speaking as a musician who has performed at Someday, it is one of the most respectful clubs you can play at in Portland. A professional sound system, with an option to have a room recording, they don't under cut you for flyer costs and other out of the door like one other hipster club I won't mention by name. The stage is great, nice big screen for projections, and we had an excellent meal (especially good vegetarian food)...and then enjoyed the other bands. I have no idea what the people are complaining about...seating? there are couches on the second level.

  • Pros: great ambience

Avoid if you're over 30!

by scuba_diver

The Someday Lounge may appeal to twenty-something?s that don't mind the basic brick, "standing room only" atmosphere, but if you're looking for a good place to sit and watch a musical performance of any nature, skip it. For reasons known only to the promoter and the venue an artist named Jesse Cook performed last night and it was a nightmare. We've seen and really enjoyed Jesse's shows before. He appeals to thirty-something?s up that are used to a nice venue, not to the cave dwelling younger crowds (which is what Someday is apparently all about). As mentioned previously, the Someday lounge has very little "seating" (cheap wooden chairs) and a majority of the crowd were forced to stand shoulder-to-shoulder to see the torn curtain, tiny stage. A young employee even suggested 'sharing chairs"...someone could sit for a while and then switch with someone else. Really? Give me a break. I stopped doing that when I could afford to buy a new car. In any case we and the couple we invited did not enjoy this venue at all. Nor did many, many other people that were complaining and asking for their money back. (No one was refunded as far as we know). So if you like a hot sweaty place to stand around in and like paying too much for drinks...by all means, enjoy! If you're looking for a decent musical venue...keep looking.

  • Pros: Hmmm...brick walls and cement floors?
  • Cons: Very little seating and expensive drinks.

Great decor, but it was about as deep as a paper plate

by lindejos

The artsy deco was interesting but the drinks were expensive, mostly wrong, slow and small (I ordered a gin and tonic with Bombay Sapphire, got a well GnT and paid for the expensive one). The waitstaff consisted of two dudes one of whom was never around, the other of whom did not seem to want to take my order. The live Jazz band that was playing was decent, but there were no effing chairs! Except the one that was covered in lipstick. Seriously, have some g-d darn respect for your own place.

  • Pros: Decent live music, cool decor
  • Cons: Everything else
