Excellent Service AND Food
by kagonv
The food is fantastic. The service is fantastic. The music.... fantastic. I didn't know what to think of it but decided to try it out due to the name, and uh.. pretty much just fantastic! Very afforadable as well.
- Pros: Our waitress was extremely helpful and very entertaining.
- Cons: The guy that seated us and brought menus didn't seem to know what he was doing. But that's not much of a con. :)
Exciting, inticing menu but constantly met with disappointing food
by easypeasey
Second time visiting this restaurant and was adventurous with the tempeh sandwich, it was grilled/barbecued? Don't believe it was in-house made; lacked spices just literally tasted like ground beans and char-grill; the lemon aioli spread could not be picked up by my palate, mediocre bread ok grilled veggies at least they weren't super oily. My co-diner was happy enough with his burger though the fries weren't warm and seemed old. The recommended spanish coffee had to be returned. Don't really know if it was the coffee or what but it tasted bad, like old coffee and alcohol, looked watery not very well done. Swapped it for a hot chocolate with 151 and brandy that was decent. I want to go back and try the crepes however. I thought horoscope decorations were smidge tacky but stage and bar area looked like it could be a real fun place in the evening
- Pros: wide variety of menu items
- Cons: failed to deliver great food
Great environment, staff and Live Music!
by eviltomatoe
Last Weekend my boyfriend and I stumbled into Virgo and Pisces. The environment is relax and the staff was welcoming. We sat down much to our surprise just before the Live Music began. (I guess every Friday and Saturday they do live music.) The music was an unexpected treat as a beautiful cellist, Ashia (i think), captivated us with her voice and skill. Dinner was great, and Virgo and Pisces menu has a little something for everyone. In addition, some very delicious and unique choices, including an extensive happy hour menu that includes large portions of food, and drinks for under $5.
Best of everything

I was taken there for my birthday dinner by my husband (I'm virgo, he is pisces). I instantly fell in love with the place! The bar and the outdoor seating is so relaxed and inviting. The dining room is so romantic and inviting. The staff was awesome. So down to earth. We got there during happy hour-- great drink and food prices. Everything was good priced. Loved the meatloaf. Will definently go there again. There was nothing that I disliked! Will def tell my friends about this gem of a place!
- Pros: So many... hard to name them all
- Cons: absolutely none
Rude waiter, great patio dining, food is okay
by kimmylan
We stopped by for lunch for patio dining. The menu looked great, I was so excited to have a great lunch. I mistakenly tried to order a dinner item. The waiter was "kind enough" to point out that the menu states not once, but twice that what I tried to order was a dinner item. Okay, good enough. I ordered a sandwich which was marginal, and a salad, which turned out to be chopped iceberg lettuce. Ugh! My husband got a burger which was great, and the only reason I gave this place 2 stars. Rude service, subpar food. Will not go back.
Exceptional Happy hour food
by trapizumac7
This place was not busy when I came for happy hour. Which is very surprising, since the food, portions and the price was phenomenal. The food took my mind off work and I was able to unwind with a pomegranate martini, I hope to go back soon to enjoy these tasty treats and relax.
- Pros: Happy hour, plenty of seating and service
- Cons: No parking
Best Scallop Cigar Ever!
by ShermnBoys
One of the greatest happy hour deals in town. If you have kids there is no children's menu but they can order off of the happy hour food list for service in the dinning room , or they will even do fruit plates for you. The staff makes you feel at home. The weekend breakfast menu is one of the few menus I know of in town that someone avoiding greasy spoon brunch food has so many choices for dinning pleasure. Usually, I'm stuck with a couple of choices. I've been at least 20 times. Typically, on the weekend the crepes are wonderful the home fries are not so great, red potato I think I usually sub fruit. The dish that they serve the cigar in looks like a big ashtray, the oil they fry with is fresh if you like deep fried choices. Drinks are cheep and come fast.
- Pros: Good deals, lots of choices, really nice staff
- Cons: They are not yet consitant with the quality of their offerings
Best of the lesser known happy hours in Portland
by magpigh
This quiet, elegant (but never snobby) bar on 21st is my new favorite. I discovered it about a month ago and have been back 3 times with different friends each time. My friends have been delighted and eager to bring their friends to this true find. Most of the happy hour items are about $3, are artful and simply delicious and the service outstanding. Rumor has it that the Mercury recently panned it. All I can say is, girl...you gotta give this place another try. Go during a happy hour. Try a quiet Tuesday evening, ask Steven for his signature drink. A simply sublime martini that includes saki, coconut juice and lime. For the rest of you...forget the reviews, go find out for yourself.
- Pros: Price, atmosphere, tasty small plates
- Cons: Parking (as always in NW)
Fabulous
by topdogportland
Walking down NW 21st at 6:15pm on Saturday looking for a place with Happy hour my wife and I stumbled into this place. We at in the bar as they had a Happy hour that went til 7pm. We tried a variety of things, the Scallop Cigar was by far the best. All the Happy hour food was reasonably priced and Martinis were only $4. We were blown away at the food qaulity and prices for Happy hour. We will be back. Also a plus, is their happy hour goes til 7pm, even on Saturdays.
- Pros: Great Happy hour
- Cons: none
One word...excellent
by welovenwfood
The service at V&P was excellent. Prompt seating, delicious food. The scallop cigars were perfect. With happy hour prices ($3, 2 for $6, or 3 for $9) I couldn't believe the quality. I had eaten at McCormick's for my birthday, and to my surprise V&P had them beat with the cedar smoked salmon. Everything including the seasonal spinach was obviously fresh. To top off a wonderful meal the coconut creme brulee was the perfect palate cleanser. If you support local restaurants who are up and coming I suggest making V&P a Portland establishment.
- Pros: great food, great service, relexed atmosphere
- Cons: none
