fantastic french toast!
by sunnyvan
The baristas are pros and the coffee is exceptional. As a transplant from NYC, I recognized the Gimme! Coffee sign and had to go in. I loved the cappuccino and then decided to have the french toast. It was great. Highly recommended
- Pros: great upstairs, best coffee, cheap breakfast all day
- Cons: tables are wobbly
Not impressed

I have so many complaints about this place I don't know where to start! A friend and I went in to watch a few hours of football. We had breakfast upstairs and lunch downstairs. Terrible experience in both areas which speaks volumes about the employees and their managers - and the owner(s). This place was out of food (potatoes for gods sakes!), there were no condiments to be found upstairs, empty condiments downstairs, wrong food orders, no silverware with either meal, food was tasteless and generic, slow and disinterested service, and you can't even see the TV's above the basement bar because the liquor bottles are in the way. We had to ask for every single thing we needed - twice! Really - the worst part of the experience was the service. Both bartenders were uncharismatic, slow, and simply unattentive. Seriously, the bartender downstairs was the worst sever I've ever experienced - she's the primary reason I'll never go back to this place!
- Pros: Good coffee
- Cons: Godawful service, poor managment, bland food
Best new Breakfast in the Pearl District
by Little Mouse
After making a fabulous comeback with the detailed new menu change, Blitz Pearl is offering breakfast all day....great breakfast AND a new espresso bar.
In addition, they are screening every Ducks (and OSU game), with giveaways every game day for Civil War tickets AND overnight stay.
- Pros: Great Service, fresh coffee bar, roomy, generous portions
- Cons: potential parking tickets in the Pearl before 7
I don't recommend it!

I went to Blitz last night, which was a Saturday and had horrible service. Each person in my group had to wait at least 10-15 minutes at the bar for drinks, even though the bar was not busy and they had six or more people working.
I sat on a couch and when the server came around I asked for a water. She came back without my water, so I asked again and she didn’t respond as she was visibly annoyed with me. I don’t think asking a server for something should be considered annoying. She also got my friend’s drink order wrong. If you can believe it, she came back a third time with no water for me. I was appalled. My friend asked for a water this time and the server was extremely rude again, and did not respond. She brought a water finally about 15 minutes later but I didn’t feel comfortable drinking it because she had been so hostile toward me just for asking for it, I didn’t know how she would retaliate.
When I went to the bathroom and I waited behind four girls because they only had two very dimly lit stalls, one which had no toilet paper. To top it off the faucet water was so scalding hot that it burned my hands. When I left the bathroom which is right by the pool tables, I noticed the repulsive smell of someone being sick. I know that is not the employees’ fault, but it was like icing on the cake. I will never come back to this bar!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Rude and inexperienced wait staff, unattended bathrooms
Awful, awful Sports Bar Environment
by edesade
I went to the Blitz bar to watch the Blazer v. Rockets playoff game on Friday night. We were greeted with decent service but as the game got on toward half time the service seriously deteriorated. Beer took a half-hour at least, then when we asked for drinks the servers got testy. In the end, they handed us a tab for the three surrounding tables and then told us to work it out for ourselves. Horrible. It took over 30 minutes to work out a tab that increased (mysteriously) throughout the process. They said they were understaffed although they were aware it was a huge game. Then they said that the owner was trying to get away from "being a sports bar." Nice bar but the poorest service I've ever had ever...
- Pros: Lots of TV's
- Cons: A Waitstaff that is unwilling to work with large parties
Blitz Service

We had a coupon from Restaurant. com for Blitz so we headed there for dinner and drinks. Our bill was $62 for 4 people. They would not let us use the coupon, first stating that it is not valid anymore even though it clearly states the coupon is good until August 2009 (1 year from purchase date) then stating that the coupon says to the vendors discretion minimum purchase of $35. We spent $32 on food. Not close enough I guess... After the waitress spent 20 minutes on a smoke break then the manager mulled about accepting the coupon we were out of there an hour after originally trying to pay our bill....the whole bill as they did not accept our coupon. Safe to say I will not be going back, and I am usually a pretty easy going person with the service at a restaurant.
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: terrible service and management
USED TO BE A Great Place to Chillax
by lilladie
I used to be a regular at Blitz, although I stopped going for a while. Went in there to other day, after I knew they were changing things around, and it is not for the better. They got rid of all the great employees and now seem to have under qualified, unfriendly, and self-absorbed bartenders. The remodeling they did is horrible and it looks way worse then it did when it was sporty. I’m sure they still have more remodeling to do but I doubt it will be any better. The food and happy hour have changed and the service are sub par. My advice is go across the street to Candy. The name and decor are pretentious, but the food, happy hour, and service are pretty amazing. Plus they have free computers set up at the bar and seating areas with free Internet access. To whoever decided to change the atmosphere at Blitz to try and fit into the Pearl District, big mistake! It was great just the way it was.
- Pros: Pool Tables
- Cons: Everything
Great atmosphere for the Pearl that is.

Finally, a decent bar in the Pearl that is not filled with cigarette smoke! After a horrible encounter at Life of Riley's smoky bar and miss-leading information: "Yes, we will show the debates downstairs." However, after the 6 of us bought our drinks, and succumbed to the dark, dingy, smoky atmosphere, and the debates started; we were told that they would not in fact show the debates because the bar was "too" busy. What? Oh, the six of us and what 4 other people?
Anyway, Blitz was packed! and the service was very good for the amount of people there to see the debates. I will go back. Every TV was turned to the debates and you could watch, standing room only, everywhere you went. At last....
I'm not sure how it will be on a regular night, we'll see....
Fun Bar in the Pearl

Tonight was my first night at Blitz. After a horrible evening at the Rogue Brewery w/ a waitress that virtually ignored us all night, and being pushed and shoved while trying to get a cocktail at Vault, we stumbled upon Blitz and I was super pleasantly surprised. At first the upstairs was dead, and I thought maybe it was going to be lame, but then stepping down the stairs, the downstairs area was hoppin'. I loved that they had shuffleboard, air hockey, pool and darts, it gave it more of a college bar sort of feel. There was a huge wraparound bar, and service was extremely fast. The music was a little loud in the bar area, but you could easily step out to a different section and have it be a little more mellow. I dug the bathroom, it was roomy even though it only had two stalls, and I will remember to bring chalk to write on the walls next time (very cool!). I plan on coming back to Blitz for my birthday next month.
- Pros: Upstairs/Downstairs, Pool, Air Hockey, Shuffleboard, Darts, Nice Waitstaff, No Cover
- Cons: Music too loud in bar.
