BEWARE

by me999 at Citysearch

The salon is nice, but what ever you do , do not let Suzette touch your hair. she gave me a hair cut, that looks like she took a knife and chopped it off in pieces. nor can she blowdry hair, which is the most basic thing. if you pick the salon, make sure you pick a DIFFERENT hair stylist.

Best cut and color ever!!!

by NPP at Citysearch

Untill I started getting my hair done with Felicia @ Gigi's Aveda Salon, I had never been satisfied. She is the first person that for a reasonable price, I can get my hair cut and colored perfectly and reliably everytime! I say it's perfect because my hair has only ever been a problem with getting the right color. Well Felicia gets the color and highlightes perfect everytime. She has it down to a science! And she is reliable because she never fails. This is the most capable and professional beautician I have ever had. Gigi's salon and Felicia happen to be a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. Thanks Felicia, for knowing your job!

  • Pros: Friendly atmosphere, upbeat, professional beauticians
  • Cons: There are no complaints!

Not impressed

by bellyxray at Citysearch

I had Felicia cut my hair and I liked it there, but once I got home it just did all kinds of weird flips and I ended up putting my hair up in a clip everyday after. Also was not cut as short as I wanted.

  • Pros: Example: best croissants in town
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Wonderful Experience from Beginning to End

by dihn at Citysearch

This salon is great. I have been coming to Felicia for about a year and always love my color and cut every time. My highlights are beautiful and this is confirmed by all of the compliments that I receive. If you are looking for a stylist that understands hair coloring, she is for you.

fake place

by tobago at Citysearch

If your looking for an upscale salon this is not the right spot, basically it is an Asian owned salon that is undercover to look as an upscale salon. The stylist who work in this salon deserve much better then what they are giving, clients save your money.

  • Pros: stylist
  • Cons: money hungry owners

Owner screwed up highlights, then gave me a way to dark Morticia Adams color when I came in for "redo"

by akcowner1 at Citysearch

If you like paying a lot to bored, distracted salon-types who don't seem interested in service but only clock-watching -- If you have a lot of time to come in for -re-do's when the owner himself can't seem to get simple highlights the right color (I asked for "carmel" highlights and got yellow/orange that turned my complection "pink!"

This "mall salon," set right next to Nordstroms' with tons of people milling around, hustling by as you get your service, then this place is for you!

When I booked a "re-do," the owner seemed hostile and said, "I think I know what you want." Then proceeded to dye my hair dark, dark brown. My color is light brown with highlights. Even other stylists seemed shocked at the outcome. I was so taken aback, that I decided to leave and have another salon that I trust (FADA downtown, a great place!) fix it for me.

There are other great salon's in Portland to spend my hard earned money, where I know that I will be cared for and listened to and feel great walking out the door...

Unfortunately, Gigi Salon really doesn't deliver.

  • Pros: in a mall
  • Cons: lacks privacy, doesn't handle business well, doesn't seem interested in clients real needs

I should have just let my 3 year old cut my hair with the lawn mower, it would have looked better.

by zilchic at Citysearch

I would like to tell you the name of the person who cut my hair, but I can't she never told me. Nobody did.

What I can tell you is that I got a Supercuts quality haircut for 47.00. I walked away with the left front of my bangs GONE. She tried to disguise her major screw up, and totally ignored me when I said "WHOA, that's gonna take a while to grow back!" but after all it was not her hair right, why should she care?

I came home and RECUT my own hair so that I can attend my job interview in 2 days not looking like total nut. I was too shocked to decline payment at the time, I am regretful now that I did not.

Do yourself a favor, if you find yourself drifting in their general direction, STOP find a mirror, look long and hard at yourself, imagine what you would look like with 20-45% of your hair gone. Now imagine you cannot choose which 20-45% goes away. The bangs, hmmm how about a chunk from the right side. No, maybe just a few inches out of the back?

  • Pros: Aveda products smell good?
  • Cons: The stylist did not know how to cut hair.
