Small, friendly, and relaxed
by ropemonkey
After a knee injury a few months ago I realized I needed a gentle way to start being active again. Talking with Sylvia (one of the instructors), she recommended the Yin Yoga class as a great way to get moving again. Not only is it a great way to stretch out, but on Sunday nights it helps me mentally prepare for the workweek ahead. Sylvia?s expert instruction is both physically challenging and mentally calming- without being intimidating for a first-timer. I don?t really have much else to compare to, but the environment is peaceful, the instruction is professional, and the people are friendly. All required materials are provided, and all I needed to do was show up with an open mind- I can?t think of better place to get into doing yoga.
Welcoming environment, great staff!

As a complete yoga beginner, the FUNdamentals class at Blue Sky was my first structured exposure to yoga. It's been a great class and I've made it a part of my weekly routine. The studio provides all required materials (mats, blocks, bolsters, straps etc.) which makes it that much more approachable for a beginner. Of course, you're welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer, but as a novice to any new activity, the initial investment in new equipment can be very daunting. Blue Sky keeps that fear to an absolute minimum. All I had to purchase was a new pair of stretchy pants. Plus, the FUNdamentals class is only $8 a session. Very affordable.

Syvlia, the instructor, is patient, aware and genuinely interested in the students' progress. I have very limited comparison to other instructors, but I can't imagine a better instructor for a beginners' class. While I'm not anywhere close to jumping up to a more advanced class any time soon, I feel confident I'm learning the proper fundamentals that will serve me well once I am balancing on my hands with my feet behind my ears.
Best treatment ever!
by DeJerk
I have recently received, at Blue Sky Wellness Center, a series of acupuncture treatments for stress, body pains and overall lack of energy. Each session was better than the one before, and I finished my whole treatment much quicker than predicted. I have had, obviously, acupuncture before, but I felt that the practitioners at Blue Sky much more understanding and versatile.
The atmosphere is excellent and the staff very helpful.
And everything so affordable!
I can't wait to start some classes!
Best Naturopathic Dr.
by MissAlisha
I highly recommend Dr. Rian Hersher for Naturopathic care. Having personally worked with her as a colleague in the clinical setting I saw that she was bright and talented in many ways. I appreciated her patient education tools as a source of empowerment for those seeking a road to wellness. I am confident that she can help any person who seeks an expert in the art and science of healing.
Great movement classes, great prices, great everything!

I recently discovered Blue Sky Wellness after a long search for just the right yoga studio. I was instantly impressed with the cool atmosphere of the place. It's in a great location, right in the middle of the Mississippi Arts District, The decorum inside is beautiful and tranquil, but also fun and upbeat. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and the instuctors are amazing. Okay, so, so far we've got a great location, great interior design, great staff, great instructors. The most amazing thing about this place is that they offer a wonderful, wide range of classes, everything from yoga, to pilaties, to Qi Gong, at a very reasonable price. I just bought a one month unlimmited movement class card for only $65! That's half what I would pay at other studios. And don't think that you're getting suckered out of anything here. The classes are terrific! So, go, go, go! I'm telling all my friends, this place is super!
a healing oasis and sactuary

The minute you walk through the door you feel like you've left the rest of the world behind.
Everyone at Blue Sky is warm and kind, whenever I stop in for a class or acupuncture session, someone gently offers hot herbal tea or a glass of water. Just being there reminds me to slow down and focus on health and my well being.
I work downtown and needed a place to unwind and heal near my NE neighborhood...the Yoga classes are excellent, acupuncture and massage therapy soothe me and with the VERY reasonable "Charter Membership" you can have unlimited yoga, 1 massage and 1 acupuncture treatment for a great monthly package price. They offer almost every kind of yoga at times that fit my work and weekend schedule, classes on weeknights about health and wellness, acupuncture and other alternative therapies.
The best part for me is it is an escape from downtown...calmer, more grounded, comfortable and soothing than any other studio/spa I've visited.
I'm in love with it.
- Pros: small community feel, highly skilled teachers and therapists
- Cons: you have to look for it!
